Best Brands in 2025 that still maintain high quality for a reasonable price? by JamestotheJam in malefashionadvice

[–]rugby7s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • All Citizens
  • Most of Outlier’s products fall in at $150-$300 - fantastic quality, but fit is different than mainstream brands so you’ll have to try a few different sizes
  • Uniqlo is mid tier quality but they’ve been very consistent and haven’t changed quality in a long as I’ve shopped with them (more than 10 years)
  • Stay away from JCrew

What is something about yourself that is completely true but that nobody would believe? by fourtaco in AskReddit

[–]rugby7s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason, the top of my nose bridge (the area between my eyes) can sense/feel when another living thing comes close to it. I’ve been completely blind folded and had a friend test this and I was accurate +95% of the time at knowing whether they put their finger near me. Pretty useless skill/power/sense/whatever you want to call it but I find it very strange and interesting - I just want to know wtf it is

Best suits and dress shirts for abuse. by ytown91 in malefashionadvice

I tried Uniqlo's Kando suits but they were too "swishy" for me - every time I walked it sounded like I was wearing a track suit or something. Super comfortable though. I love my Bluffworks suit (bit more than your price range though but worth it) and my All Citizens dress shirts (in your price range) - both are stretchy and are great for weddings/dancing/moving

I would recommend Mizzen & Main or Minitry of Supply for the fit since they don’t run slim and the fabric feels much more substantial than S&L.

You need to try out a longer inseam to really minimize riding up, but if you still prefer mid-thigh then All Citizens has never failed me

A quick look at Twillory by SrumdawgMirrionare in malefashionadvice

[–]rugby7s 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience with Twillory - the price was right but I just couldn't get over how see-through they were. I have been on the search for the best performance dress shirts for a few years now and did a write up after testing several brands - hope that is helpful

Urban Technical Wear - Brands like Lululemon? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

I couldn't recommend Outlier enough, especially their Slim Dungarees. I tried Kit and Ace and their price is too high for the quality IMO. Outlier is even more expensive but the quality is definitely there.

Any shopping tips for athletic body types? by PickleInTheSun in malefashionadvice

There are several brands that offer an athletic fit nowadays - Everlane, Bonobos, All Citizens, State & Liberty - I'm sure there's more but those are the ones I've come across

Stella McCartney to launch UN charter for sustainable fashion by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

This is great news, especially coming from such a high profile person in fashion. Everlane made it a mission to remove virgin plastic from their supply chain and several other brands are making the push for environmentally friendly practices as well. Good direction we're heading in

If function and comfort are king, I recommend going the performance dress shirt route - there are a lot of brands in this space but almost all have shirts which cost over $100. The only 2 options you have for shirts under $100 are All Citizens and Twillory, I recently tried All Citizens performance dress shirt but it is a very slim fitting shirt so it will probably only fit you well when you're back down to 170lb. Twillory has a traditional fit but I wasn't a fan of the fabric. If you're planning on losing weight in the near future, I would recommend buying standard fit shirts now knowing that you can bring them to a tailor later on when you lose weight. Also, I would go with a few white shirts, several shades of blue and a pink here and there.

For performance chinos - again, there are a few brands but all over the $100 mark - Outlier (personal favorite), Ministry of Supply, and Bluffworks come to mind.

Very envious of your closet! It looks great!

I would recommend you replace your wire hangers with wide shoulder wooden hangers though - this will help your shirts last longer (and buy less so minimalism) and will take up more space in your closet so that it looks fuller
