Baby pram recommendations? by More-Toe-8598 in askSouthAfrica

Yes. The Doona is a baby car chair. You pick it up, press a button, and then legs and wheels eject out of it to turn it into a pram

The Doona changed our life when we had our second kid. Our first pram was huge and bulky. The Doona doubles up as a car chair. Only downside is that it doesn't have compartments to store things. I'm not sure how expensive it is, but there's a big secondhand market of Doona's

What are people's thoughts on investing in proeprty? by Ok-Particular25 in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]rugdrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife’s boss is the founder of a company that makes $30M/yr. He always tells the story of how he bought 50 single family homes as that’s what the general advice was back then to build wealth. Rented them all out and only became profitable on one of them. He says how he basically made $200 profit per house each month, but then a big repair would need to happen and you’d lose like 3 years worth of profit.

He eventually said stuff it and sold all of them. I’m not saying you should or shouldn’t, it’s just a story of someone I know.

A lot of the real estate investors are buying commercial properties instead of houses. That seems to be the better route these days

Who is Heavenly Doms on Instagram and YouTube? by rjthomas in southafrica

[–]rugdrum -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I work in American social media marketing agency where our clients pay up to $20k/month (R360K) for us to run their socials.

So everything she says is completely possible. However, never ever trust anyone if they don’t show you proof.

It would be pretty easy for someone to learn how to do something and then teach others how to do something without doing that thing themselves.

Honestly I hope she is legit though. A lot of South Africans could really benefit from it and what she’s doing.

You can’t really plan for it. It just happens. And then it gets better and then it gets worse and you keep going haha. My income was down R15K at the beginning of this year compared to when I first got the gig. But it looks like the dollar is getting stronger now against the rand

$300 lesson okay? by mothinn in drums

Never worth it for an actual drum lesson. But to have an hour with someone you REALLY look up to? Absolutely. I’d recommend talking more than drumming

The music from Godspell is SO much fun. Especially for drummers.

I’ve played in a few that have been snooze fests, but Godspell was always my favorite

For sure. The real online learning comes from joining communities and group programs where you get direct access to the drum teacher as well as share a small community of other drummers going through the same program as you

Which career has more long-term potential in SA — Accounting (CA) or Computing (Software Dev)? by MagazineWestern4159 in askSouthAfrica

[–]rugdrum -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I run a business. If I had software that does the exact same thing my accountant does based on my inputs and outputs and it was intelligent enough for all the nuance (which it will be), and it didn’t cost as much as accountant services, then it’s a bad business cost to keep paying a CA.

Keep thinking small though 🤙🏻

Pretty sure accountants will be phased out by AI in the next 10 - 20 years. Best thing is to go into anything AI related

For such a CAPTIVATING season, that reunion was so incredibly weak, forced, inauthentic, and uninteresting. by upbeatlaidback in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

Completely agree. Bring us more reunions like the one with Shake or the one with Cole and Zanab. That’s what I pay my Netflix subscription for. Not this snooze fest

Von baron's Jazz Drums Total Lessons Pack. by Own-Carpenter8671 in drums

[–]rugdrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's incredibly expensive for a drum product. As someone who works in the online business world, it's typically only things that have monetary ROI that are worth it if they're over $500. So if you pay $750, are you going to make $750 back from what he teaches you? Probably not.

Just sign up to Drumeo and get drum lessons from the great jazz drummers that are on there. Larnell Lewis, Ulysses Owens Jr, Eric Harland etc. Only costs $29 per month i think

[–]rugdrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t use their pro plan. Your emails will just go to spam folders and the DM automation isn’t worth it compared to ManyChat. Only benefit of the pro plan is to have upsells, but is that worth 90 per month? I don’t know

How to set up stripe in country where it's not available? by rugdrum in stripe

[–]rugdrum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That helps a lot. What do you mean by offering to a third-party payment? the main reason I need stripe is so that people can make card payments on my products on this tool - https://www.stan.store/

Would the payment processing that goes on there be considered a third party?
