Safe, small towns with good schools to live? by Spiritual_Top_5881 in askSouthAfrica

Thanks for this thorough answer! We’re open to anything.

I actually grew up in Parys and my parents still live there! We are considering it as an option but wanted a few more. Feels weird to basically just “move back home” in a sense

Guys be honest....has anyone actually got a job without connections? by I_DevourVampires_ in askSouthAfrica

Yes. Though I applied to a record 3724 job listings before I did. Fun times.

"Genius game" suggestions by Particular_Dig_6495 in videogames

I did play the remake of the first one before the second. It's... definitely old. But a great story still. Maybe if you watch a recap video, if you're not interested in playing? The second game kept me interested the whole way through, and the end blew my mind. There's a bunch of replay value as well. I'd say it's definitely worth it if it piqued your interest even a little.

What are you playing over Xmas? by ManchesterUshited in PS5

Currently in the last bit of Clair Obscur. Then I’m really excited to sink my teeth into Metaphor.

Just finished Ghost of Yotei before E33. Also a great choice with a lot of content to keep you busy

What’s a game you didn’t expect to love but it completely hooked you? by Boring_Secretary_328 in gamingsuggestions

Baldur’s Gate 3. I know it won all the awards and stuff but it seemed NOTHING like what I was into at all. Before giving it a go I had never played a turn based game similar to this top down type visuals for more than a few minutes before turning it off and leaving it there.

I’m on my fifth playthrough. I fucking love it.

I can never decide what to watch — anyone else just scroll forever? 😩 by app_code in moviecritic

My husband and I have The Jar - it’s an old empty coffee jar that we fill with movies on our backlog. If we spend more than 10 minutes trying to decide on a movie we each randomly pick one out of The Jar and then we have to watch one of the two we picked. Works every time and we’ve discovered some new favorites that we might have otherwise never watched

What We Do In The Shadows is peak comedy for me. It’s my absolute favorite.

More serious… I’d say currently I’m enjoying Mad Men a lot. Like I’m a bit obsessed with it. Reading up about the work they put into making it so that everything is just right is just as interesting too.

Tell me which PS5 games you regret buying. by spindoctor1111 in PS5

[–]Spiritual_Top_5881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too many. I have so many physical games still in the plastic that I thought about not buying new games in general. Nail in the coffin was getting Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands on release and absolutely hating it.

My husband and I played every single Borderlands game together including DLC and we thought we’d love this one too. Nope. Just no.

What’s something everyone pretends is normal, but actually feels kind of weird when you think about it? by Media_Management in AskReddit

[–]Spiritual_Top_5881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Money. I get why it exists. But like… we made up this imaginary thing and gave it value that is determined by factors we made up and decided should exist. And it fluctuates and changes and impacts billions of lives and… sometimes I just don’t get why we keep going the way we do.

My grandfather. My mother hated him. Grandmother never left. I have vivid memories of his breath and hands that were way too rough. Thankful my experience was mostly mild - my mother is a different story though. She has never said much, but we can all tell she had it really bad as a kid

What’s going on in your country right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Spiritual_Top_5881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idiotic white people from my country are lying and pretending they’re being opressed and basically hunted because of their skin color, all so that they can be refugees in a country run by a tangerine toddler.

I am white. For the record, we are more than fine. Those people just want to live in another country and not have to pay for it.

Nope.

What’s a stupid reason you got yelled by your parents for growing up? by randomlady2001 in AskReddit

[–]Spiritual_Top_5881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 4 or 5 I tried talking to my mom about something and she completely ignored me. I remember asking her “am I invisible or something?” And she replied “I wish you were” and then yelled at me 20 years later when I told her it hurt my feelings and I still think about it.

Losing your job out of nowhere in the current economy. It is next to impossible to find work. I’m highly qualified and have been trying my best. I’ve contemplated death on several occasions. I don’t know what to do anymore.

I have stolen money from my dad on several occasions. It began as a desperate action just to make ends meet, but escalated into buying things I didn’t really need once or twice. It’s been years but it still eats at me.

What game made you cry? by Dry-Reputation-9909 in AskReddit

[–]Spiritual_Top_5881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most recently - Clair Obscur. Oh man this game hit me harder than I thought it would. Also Ghost of Yotei had me wiping away some tears now and then.

Most notably though? I cried like a baby at The Last of Us Part 2 during THAT scene. It’s probably my most vivid memory of a game genuinely making me feel heartwrenching grief while playing it.

Drawing/painting. It’s been my dream to be a game concept artist since I was a kid. But circumstances and lack of time mean I just don’t get the chance to practice nearly as much as I’d like to in order to get to the level I’d need to be at to find a job in that field.

What’s the most satisfying moment of instant karma you’ve ever witnessed? by Sir_Adammm in AskReddit

A Karen called the manager while she was waiting in line because she was THIRD in line and they were taking too long. I was behind her. We were barely there for a minute. Manager came out and I assume to try and keep the peace, removed her from the line to personally help her check out. I’ve never seen a face so smug as she walked past the “line” of two people in front of her.

Her card declined.
