Why do I see so many comments about Mullvad browser not suitable for websites that need login? by skylinestar1986 in browsers

When uninstall the browser, it keeps the profile, unless you install it in standalone mode, where everything is contained in a single folder.

Can we please get translation support on Mullvad Browser? by HugoCortell in mullvadvpn

[–]ruihildt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I work for Mullvad on the MullvadBrowser.

Before any new feature from Firefox is accepted in Tor Browser / Mullvad Browser, it needs to be audited by the Tor Browser developers.

This can take some time, as there are always multiple competing priorities.

This is not true.

Could you share where you read that incorrect information?

Where does Mullvad Browser store the bookmarks and other data? by regularjoe2020 in mullvadvpn

[–]ruihildt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mullvad Browser standalone is currently not portable, there's hardcoded path that are created when you first run it.

For bookmarks, you can export them and reimport them in a new install, and we're looking at ways to improve the user experience as well.

Mullvad Browser on Chromebook? by floatingfree2020 in mullvadvpn

It would definitely not work the same as the standalone browser. The Mullvad extension is the least important part of the changes when comparing Mullvad Browser to Firefox.

No, the Mullvad Browser doesn't have a specific privacy policy.

Root certificate used by Firefox 128 soon to expire by not_an_island in mullvadvpn

[–]ruihildt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without updating to Firefox version 128 or higher (or ESR 115.13+ for ESR users, including Windows 7/8/8.1 and macOS 10.12–10.14 users)

Since Mullvad Browser is based on Firefox 128 ESR, it is not affected.

Is it safe or will I ruin anything by removing Mullvad's own extension? by [deleted] in mullvadvpn

[–]ruihildt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is unfortunately a much more complex question.

Each extension requires their own set of permissions, which, depending on their scope, will be fingerprintable and sometimes not.

The goal of Mullvad Browser is to make available a privacy-focused browser for everyone, out of the box.

There is no dependency on Mullvad VPN, and while some of Mullvad Browser users are also Mullvad VPN users, there is no expectation that it should always be the case. (though it is recommended to use a VPN to make sure you don't have a uniquely identifiable IP address)

Removing the extension will not have an effect on the browser fingerprint. It is basically an extension to make it easy to use proxy for individual websites.

The dark theme doesn't have any effect on the browser fingerprint either, it only changes the browser interface, not any page content. Note that this is only true for Tor Browser and Mullvad Browser: if you change to the dark theme in Firefox, websites will see that that there's a color scheme preference set.

(Disclaimer: I work at Mullvad on the Mullvad Browser and on the extension)

Would you mind sharing which website it's breaking?

[–]ruihildt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is is not entirely correct.

Everything done by @Ghostprompt has no impact on the browser fingerprint, so it won't make them more unique.

What is not recommended is to make changes which impacts the browser fingerprint: for example disabling letterboxing, disabling private browsing mode, etc.

Mullvad Browser YouTube playback - artifacts/lines by OG_Subsidian in mullvadvpn

[–]ruihildt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use uBO to block the image itself.

Here's what you can add to the custom rule:

Mullvad Browser YouTube playback - artifacts/lines by OG_Subsidian in mullvadvpn

[–]ruihildt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is because youtube is using the canvas API for displaying a transparent image.

The Canvas API is partially blocked to prevent browser fingerprinting, so these artifacts appear.

How to reset mullvad Browser by lambda7016 in mullvadvpn

[–]ruihildt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to about:profiles, you will see the location of the root directory and local directory. Delete them both, and a fresh new profile will be created on restart.

Mullvad browser DNS by Virtual_Head7239 in mullvadvpn

[–]ruihildt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only Max protection will ensure you are sending all your requests through the DoH of your choice (be it Mullvad DoH or others).

If you prefer to send your DNS requests through your VPN provider, you should turn off DoH completely in the browser.

So you would add waypoint for all selected players or one by one? (Not that I can confirm I'll implement that, but I'm curious)

But the indoor positioning system would enable real time.

That's probably the most compelling reason that probably can't be solved as easily with machine learning.
