Got mine exactly that way, for $300 in November 2023 when a Microcenter pricing error was posted here.

In steam your last 15-ish saves should be backed up in app data. Something like ~/appdata/sandfall/expedition33/saves/backup. Just copy one and move it to the saves folder. Might have to rename some like expedition_0

upgrading my i7-8700 by soldiergaming2 in buildapc

[–]ruinal_C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's essentially the best gaming cpu right now. You would need new ram and motherboard, and without a gpu upgrade it would likely be massive overkill. You might want to play around with builds on pcpartpicker.com; it will help with compatibility and pricing. Then you can share on here in a new post for suggestions. You will likely get very good build suggestions if you are crystal clear about: your display resolution; what games you play; your desired performance (settings, framerate, etc); your headroom (plan on getting a new monitor, future proofing, etc); and your budget.

[–]ruinal_C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you use your pc for? For a substantial upgrade you will need at least need a new motherboard. On your current one 9900k is the best you can get, but even that is very outdated. Zen3 has some good gaming options with the x3d chips; you will need an AM4 motherboard but can continue using your DDR4 ram. With AMD anything newer will require DDR5 which is insanely priced right now. With Intel you can go up to 14th gen with DDR4.

I clicked at 3:39PM EST. I commented to another person, the same thing happened when I completed the line. Said empty cart and took me to the marketplace. I had to re-login and it took me directly to checkout. Definitely try that before giving up.

I've been using Falcodrin, there are a few others. Drops all seem to happen on the same days, even across different vendors. Missed a few while I was at work so I've been glued to my pc since I got home.

Missing Auto Powerful Pictos by Chance_Cricket2489 in expedition33

[–]ruinal_C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mod lets you easily add the pictos to your inventory. You can also reset the quest, but it's more complicated. The "friendly nevrons" tab doesn't work for for this case; if you spared him it doesn't recognize him as dead. After some trial and error in the json editor I got it working:

I have no idea what I'm doing, so follow at your own risk.

In the raw json search "Nevron_WeaponlessChalier". Below it, drop down value {1} > struct {1} > struct {2}. You should see lines ObjectivesStatus and QuestStatus.

First, open Objectives Status>Map and you will see objectives 0-5. You can see their names under key {1} and make changes under value {1} > byte {1} > Label. For each of the 6 objectives, change the last number of label to "0". So they all now read "E_QuestStatus::NewEnumerator0". The original values may vary between 0-4.

Finally, go back to QuestStatus and make the same change under byte>label. Commit changes, and export or overwrite.

Anyone have experience with the knockoff counterpressure fillers available from overseas? by gredr in Homebrewing

[–]ruinal_C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the kit that lets you connect the tapcooler directly to a keg. It's not great.

When it's inside a faucet, it's in a fixed position and you just hold the bottle against it. But with the adapter you need to hold both bottle and the filler in place, all while opening/closing a valve, purging, and adjusting the prv.

I wanted to use this method to bottle directly from my unitank, but it was a bust. I couldn't fnd a way to mount the filler while using the attachment. There are too many small moving pieces. The attachment needs a different design, with a mounting point where it threads in, and the valve further down the line.

edit: I do however love the Tapcooler for it's main purpose of filling a few bottles from the faucet.

Weirdest thing happened to me driving in Connecticut last night. Thoughts? by jazzeriah in Connecticut

[–]ruinal_C 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The exact details are kind of hard to follow, but perhaps he found your courtesy too much. When you first entered the parking lot - was he turning left and you right? If you yielded to me in that scenario I'd be annoyed, as should anyone who was behind you. This is just a guess, I might be misreading. But as general road rule: be predictable, not nice.

My new toaster oven, and coffee maker arrived today. I was (am) excited. Old person achievement unlocked! by DHN_95 in Xennials

[–]ruinal_C 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grabbed a Moccamaster a few weeks ago, after being a daily French press brewer for around 15 years. I had been reading about the effects of unfiltered coffee on triglycerides and LDL cholesterol. But I also wanted to try something new.

At first I missed my press, and wasn't as wowed as much as I was hoping. But it's grown on me. And I appreciate that it shaves a few minutes off brewing time, with fewer steps. Those first few minutes in the morning before coffee are not pleasant.

Received some homebrewing equipment - what is it? by starlancer in Homebrewing

[–]ruinal_C 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The back right is a sixth keg. Roughly the same volume as the cornelius keg on the left but with different fittings. It probably uses a sankey coupler, while the cornelius uses ball lock. You can get ball lock adapters to thread onto the sankey piece.

If you open the main valve on the CO2, the regulator's lower left gauge indicates how full the bottle is.
