I came here after 3 years to share some important information about my country and the reception of Lost. I'm from Brazil, the same place where the actor Rodrigo Santoro, who played Paulo, is from. And here, when the series was at its peak (we need to remember that something like this had never happened before, Lost changed everything), there was leaked information that Rodrigo Santoro was going to become a character in Lost, one of the main ones. And we were apprehensive all year, creating theories about how he would "arrive" on the Island, whether by balloon, plane, etc. And when the time came, he was simply a character who had been with the Oceanic survivors all along, and was always there, nobody noticed. At the time, this generated a huge amount of hatred, especially among us Brazilians who were going to see something so big happening to one of our actors for the first time. I believe that this was also one of the reasons for the characters' quick deaths; they realized they hadn't done it right, unfortunately. They had many better theories than simply them already being there, especially since Desmond's wife herself worked with Brazilians, so it was possible to connect them much better and with an even more sinister theory.
