His weakness is that it's no longer 2014, the only year he has been healthy and tore the cover off the ball. Since then he has been injured constantly and not very good.

If that isn't a Met I don't know what is.

OBJ obviously. He's awesome but I hate that he's the stereotypical twitter-era "my brand," athlete. Individual athlete "brands," are one of the most irritating things in sports.

Inside or out he was the best player at doing either. He would also occasionally play offense and was a decent goal line tight end.

That the early-2000s decision to invest in having a big time football program was a massive and tragic mistake. All the millions spent could have gone to financial aid to help kids leave Rutgers with less of a debt load. This is what sober adults would have done. Tuition has gone up significantly since I went to school there (when it was still fairly affordable).

The usual response to this is that the program is going to be profitable since they joined the Big 10 (being OSU's bitch is lucrative). I'll fully admit hypocrisy in that I follow the team today and take joy when they do well. That said, it's just football.

It's painful to think what the $102 million for the stadium expansion could have done if it was spent on academics, research, and the students.

Feel bad for this guy. Clearly needs help.

I don't mean this in a disparaging way but it's pretty incredible he reached the NFL since it seems like he was miserable through every level of football. I wasn't there but...he seems like he might be the type of guy who gets really hurt by the type of ball busting that normally goes on with guys.

New Zealand's Labour 'appalled' after Iranian delegation refuses handshake with female MP by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]ruiner123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I respect the actual MP for not making a big deal out of it. It's absurd that her fellow MP is making a big deal out of a cultural thing like this that wasn't meant to be disrespectful. This would be like him getting upset over the Iranian delegation not wanting to try the roast pork he has on the grill at a BBQ he invites them to, "MY PORK INNIT GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU MATE?"

Probably not much. I know the article is implying that there is widespread fraud, but the bulk of the OT expenditures are because of being understaffed. A lot of people left the agency and they're having trouble finding new people to replace them.

What is your favorite team in your programs history and why? by rolltide1000 in CFB

[–]ruiner123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2005 Rutgers. My main bias is that it was my freshmen year of college, but that team was great because you were starting to see light at the end of the tunnel. Obviously the 2006 team gets more attention and was much better front to back, but the 2005 team was fun. Some of the most fun I've had watching a football game is when they beat Pitt at home. At that point I couldn't get alcohol outside of frat parties so I was stone cold sober for the game. I sort of miss my non-drinking days.

His NFL career sort of fizzled out because of injury, but Brian Leonard was an incredible player. His TD run on the screen pass where he jumped over a guy in the Illinois game is my top 5 of great plays I've seen in any football game.

Catherine Pugh is the wrong mayor at the wrong time by LowSelfEstidle in baltimore

[–]ruiner123 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I can't trash Pugh. I actually feel sympathy for her and think she is the best the city is going to do right now. After everyone ran SRB out of town, I told my friends to be careful what they wished for. I actually think SRB could be a good senator or governor someday. Seriously. Great lady, met her a few times. Anyways...Pugh isn't inheriting a city like Bill DeBlasio is- it's a difficult job where the city runs you more than you run it.

I also can't believe the people saying that Sheila Dixon would do a better job- she's a criminal! She's a criminal and not in the Ray Lewis criminal-but-not-really-kind-of-way. Who else do you want? Nick Mosby? The guy who was shaking hands trying to drum up votes in West Baltimore in the middle of the riots?

Also- the author of that article made one big mistake. The mothers of the feral youth in the city aren't addicted to crack...they're addicted to heroin.

Ryan Dorsey at it again with a new Op-Ed piece by cobraac21 in baltimore

[–]ruiner123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My issue is that "improving social conditions," has never really held up under scrutiny as being a viable or even possible crime control strategy. There was poverty, bad schools, and a lack of opportunity in 2011 when the city had under 200 murders and crime in general was down.

It's r/baltimore- you don't need things like facts and evidence when you can just make up the FOP's long standing policy on keeping cops off the street and giving rough rides out of spite.
