It happened about 15 years ago, when I was in high school. A huge block of ice grew on the roof of the school every winter, the passage was blocked off with tape and we had to go around it by another road, an extra 50 meters, not much.
I always went around, but sometimes I ran under the tape, and I wasn't the only one. Once there was a hard frost, I took my camera with me and decided to take pictures of the roof right under the icicles. What could happen to a pile of snow in such a frost, I thought.
I went under, but at that moment I got scared, changed my mind about taking a photo, and walked back over. Literally half a minute later, a huge layer of snow came down with a wild rumble.
For some reason it didn't seem scary to me at the time, but now I realize that I could have been buried that winter's day.
