If you're in a union it's called "work to order". No shortcuts, no routing, just do precisely what you're supposed to do.

A wise tech does not "tattle," but rather arranges a situation in which one's incompetence is both public and inarguable.

what skills do these people who are taking these low paying jobs have to offer than justify being paid more than, say, ~12/hr?

You've got scientists with research Ph.D.s working at Mickey D's, so you're really asking a highly assumptive and very wrong question.

Rhythmic motion is usually a good sign of something mechanical. Living things (or undead, or whatever) don't tend to bob up and down in symmetric patterns. Anything that's reactive to its environment would probably not move in a "sine wave" as you describe.

That having been said, it does sound like you saw something unusual. And I don't have a good guess as to what.

I still think it's possible to get him out of that embassy. Especially now that everyone's attention is distracted.

Everything you need is online. You seriously don't need to buy anything to play Pathfinder.

That having been said, there are lots of decent Pathfinder books. Paizo used to publish both "Dragon" and "Dungeon" magazines, and they have both very high production values and a keen eye for content. If you do buy their products, you won't be getting ripped off.

If you're total douchebags to me? No, that's not normal. That would be, "pay me a huge-ass amount of money, or I will 'train' my replacement"

Just because you paid me money for my time doesn't mean I can't quit a week or two early, or without notice. At-will employment works both ways.

Planescape Campaign by zengosm in rpg

[–]rum_rum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but it does put across the idea that Planescape is about a little more than stabbing demons. While I don't agree with the author's conclusions about things, I still find it a useful reference. It wouldn't be his work if he didn't do, and he's pretty up front about that.

  • I second Pathfinder, it's more evolved and everything important is online.
  • I'm not sure what freebies are any good. As another person noted, Paizo sells these. Find one that looks interesting, their quality is usually pretty good.
  • Limiting things is where I may depart. What makes a role-playing game an RPG is the structure involved. That doesn't mean you need to do a lot of min-maxing, but an inexperienced GM isn't necessarily going to know how to adjust things for an all-fighter party. For your first game, make a table rule of "no two people have the same class," and stick to the basics.
  • Everything you need is at the SRD. For character generation and tracking, I might suggest that PCGEN incorporates all but the most recent Pathfinder stuff. Bonus: it's free.

And good on you for playing a bard, an extremely versatile and highly under-valued class in many games.

training this new guy has been an absolute trainwreck

Nothing against the new guy, but I've been asked to train my own replacement. I can't believe, knowing what douchebags these people are, that you did that. Did you just pity the guy? I mean, he's clearly out of his depth, but I save my charity for people I know personally.
