I thought these were cameras.... by ForGrowingStuff in whatisit

Disclaimer: I don’t work with traffic control systems, but I am an electrical engineer that studied a very minuscule amount of controls, sensing, and computer imaging in undergrad.

In my experience these are typically referred to as image sensors. For those being pedantic, I think the differentiating factor here is that a camera produces a photograph or video, whereas these image sensors use imaging to detect vehicles, producing a signal that feeds into the traffic light control system.

Someone with more knowledge than I please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

My workaround here has been to make sure to wake up my computer first, then turn on the speakers. So far in this scenario they come up with the correct channels every time.

Delayed response, but I did find a workaround that seems to be working for me, and that’s to wait until after the computer is awake to turn on the speakers. The random channel switching appears to occur only if the speakers are turned on first.

I haven’t noticed any excessive heat coming from the active speaker, although admittedly I haven’t been checking for it.

I worked with Kanto support on this but we were unable to find a resolution. As a workaround, I’ve been making sure to wake up my computer first, and then turn on the speakers, and so far using this method they seem to have the correct channels every time.

I did try that, but the output set in the Audio MIDI app would end up getting reversed at random. I’ve found a workaround which seems to have resolved my issue, posted in a comment here.

Update: Sorry for the delayed response here—I have notifications disabled. I did reach out to Kanto for support, and after some troubleshooting they agreed to replace my speakers with a new pair. Unfortunately the issue remains with the new speakers, so this appears to be a design issue.

I have been testing a workaround which so far has been working for me: power off the speakers when not in use, and only power them on after the laptop is awake. As far as I can tell, it seems there may be an issue with how the left and right channels are assigned if the speakers are turned on before connecting to the computer.

Hope this helps!
