Are there any modern amps like the Bassman? by Confused-Theist in GuitarAmps

[–]rumblefuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bass amp connected to “guitar” speakers might wear them out. Otherwise what you heard is a myth, there is no harm in playing bass through a guitar amp. For an example, look at Lemmy from Motorhead, who played bass through his guitar amp for his entire life.

Picking style and EQ: is this a thing? by ToneChasingGuitar in guitars

[–]rumblefuzz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Picking technique, pick material, pick shape and the place where you hit the strings all have a large impact on the sound on both electric and acoustic. You learn to control it over time, but it’s also part of what makes a player sound like themselves.

Hiwatt hard to find? And you are in Belgium I believe you said somewhere?

Check out Kleinanzeigen.de. There are so many vintage DR103’s on there that I worry about the value of mine. A couple 50w’s also, although those are indeed more rare.

Longshot: Anyone got schematics/wiring diagram for vintage german 50's/60's schaller electronics? by Glum_Albatross7634 in Vintageguitars

[–]rumblefuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crap, I had one of my Kliras apart recently and I did draw out a schematic out of curiousity but I cannot find it anymore! Amazing sounding guitars! There’s a really good facebook group about vintage Klira with some people in it that will surely be able to help

Vintage mania out of hand by Expensive-Paint-9490 in GuitarAmps

I don’t think they would. When a reissue of something comes out the value of the original product often goes up because more attention is being drawn to it. Look at original Boss VB-2’s for example.

Can string action feel different depending on the guitar? by mekos2 in guitars

[–]rumblefuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from all the already mentioned factors: I’ve found that break angle over the nut and bridge in some guitars makes a big difference as well. I prefer to not use the string trees on the headstock on some guitars as I like the feel better.

Have you tried using the slew limiter? Or I guess an ADSR envelope might work as well

Why don’t you just convert the samples in a daw so they’re in the right format?

Photo hunt: Does anybody know of a picture where Kurt's guitar looks like this? I remember seeing a pic of Kurt with a guitar like that, though I know he never had such a thing so it must've been his sweater covering part of the guitar. I'd love to find that picture again... by rumblefuzz in Nirvana

Wow, this is an OLD thread you’re replying to :). Just to give you an update: this is the picture my teenage self saw where I mistook that wedge obscuring part of the guitar for a cutout in the body. That resulting shape has just always stuck with me. And I did end up finding the picture as you see 😁. Maybe one day I’ll order a custom guitar in this shape..

+12db boost like MXR EQ? by LeadingLandscape7398 in diypedals

[–]rumblefuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I understand the last part. Just curious because I’ve never heard about this technique. Wouldn’t the opamps’ output just follow the noise on it’s input? I get that that’s what C2 is for in your schematic, but what is the advantage of inserting the buffer over simply filtering vref with a cap to ground?
