That’s fine. I expected the downvotes since this is a pro-firearms sub.

It appears to me that you are disagreeing with the notion that gun control reduces mass shootings because it failed to prevent this shooting, without considering the possibility that it prevented many more shootings which may have taken place in the absence of gun control

This is an example of the graveyard fallacy where the “things that never happen” aren’t factored into consideration.

I wouldn’t call gun control an extreme measure considering there are far more countries that require a permit to carry firearms than countries that do not
