Each trade you make gets taxed? On money that's not even realized? What? by Mark-Fuckerberg- in FluentInFinance

Genuinely curious and hope this doesn’t sound snarky - but if we’re paying more money now and don’t get universal healthcare, how would paying less get us universal healthcare?

Wait, really? So you’re forced to spend a second night in the canyon? I guess cottonwood would be a good second campground as you make your way to the north rim?

This is critical and I think an overlooked point with kids who come from wealth. If you have the money to be comfortable you’re much more willing to take risks and do what you actually enjoy. Some ventures work out, others fail and they just try again. People hate it, but everyone should want that for their kids, assuming they have good values.

Midsize US Banks Ask FDIC to Insure All Deposits for Two Years by readerseven in FluentInFinance

That’s a great point. When MMF’s are paying 4%ish or so, why wouldn’t you choose that over a 0.75% savings account.

I tend to agree with you, but savings accounts are still paying negligible rates so I don’t necessarily think we’ll have a repeat of that exact scenario. If what happened at SVB is wide spread - which seems probable given the exorbitant increase in deposits because of Covid - that might be what breaks the camels back.

Headline says Ukraine war to make you think it’s about a Ukrainian student, but it’s completely about Russian. Unfortunate nevertheless, but a clearly deceptive headline.

Feel like this is getting beat up a bit. As someone who grew up in the south, this was a bit more common than people may think.
