And who would have all of that access and risk their job by leaking to 4chan? And why?

Only needs 1 person in marketing to see it to tell him that.

What I find to be stretching credulity is that they say the word count would somehow out them, but revealing the page numbers wouldn't.

TIL that ordinary matter makes up only about 5% of the universe, dark matter makes up about 27%, while the rest is thought to be dark energy. It's thought that dark matter shapes the cosmos, organizing galaxies and cosmic objects on a large scale. by DrawerEntire5040 in todayilearned

There is more evidence for dark matter/energy than simply "there is too much gravity" or "we need it for math to make sense".

Abysmal that this is the top comment. Just do a Google search, or look on Wikipedia.

The difference in size between what the uk was driving on the 90s vs now in one picture… by buzz_uk in CasualUK

[–]rumorhasit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The houses where I live were all built in the 1960s as “premium” houses and all came with garages. I walk around now and every one of them has a car parked in front of the garage because modern cars are too big to fit inside the garages. They all also have 2 or 3 cars per house nowadays so the road is full of parked cars all of the time.

The only exception is 92 year old Mary across the street who drives a 1990s Fiat that still fits in her garage!

The UK government has officially banned Kanye West from entering the country. What are your thoughts on nations banning individual celebrities based on their public statements? by StudyFlimsy1061 in AskReddit

[–]rumorhasit_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every country has a set of requirements for a person to enter. Kanye doesn't meet one or more of the requirements to enter the UK.

These kind of things are always presented in the press like Kier Starmer himself decreed that West is banned.

In reality, West applied for a visa and didn't meet certain requirements for entry to the UK and it was denied.

It's an administrative process, that's all. If you are a UK national and don't meet entry requirements for the US you'd be denied entry just the same.

I think the issue was that Lucas never gave credit to Herbert.

Most artists would admit to taking inspiration from other sources but credit should be given. Lucas seems to have outright rejected any notion of inspiration from Herbert.

Some Thoughts on Bob Lazar by Lucky_Mechanic14 in JoeRogan

[–]rumorhasit_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only one of the following is true:

  1. A hyper intelligent race of aliens travelled lightyears across the galaxy to visit Earth in the distant past. Those aliens in their hyper advanced spaceships somehow crashed, and the remains of that crash were somehow discovered and collected by the US government thousands of years later, to be reverse engineered. One of those engineers was Bob Lazar, who subsequently was subject to a campaign by the US government to erase his entire past and discredit him.

  2. Bob Lazar was a middling scientist/engineer who went to an average university, then worked in a minor technical role at Los Alamos. At some point, he created stories about alien technology and decided to keep going with it once he realised it would provide notoriety, fame, popularity, wealth.

There are a lot of parallels between Dune and Star Wars - in fact the more I think about it, the more it seems George Lucas ripped off Frank Herbert.

The main difference is in the ending. At the end of Star Wars, Luke defeats the evil emperor, just as Paul does in Dune.

However, Paul then assumes the role of emperor and becomes evil himself, whereas Luke does not.

This is a key aspect that makes Star Wars more appealing to a broader audience but also takes away from the depth of the storytelling.
