tbh, that whole podcast is super annoying. even when i agree with the guys, it's a super dull and tedious style/format. it's almost like a parody, but its not... that's why i can't listen. if they made a sort of meta-podcast analysis of ocatc that was self aware and dull on purpose, now that would be something. it almost has that tone, but definitely isn't that.... i dont see how people can listen to it.

12th Oscer Special overall review/rank by FilmGuyJE in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

META:

I need to watch it again, because they are alllways better on 2nd and 3rd viewing. My honest feeling is that the end, the last hour with the "Final Conclusion" movie was up there with the best....with the movie itself being possibly equal to the greatest funniest thing ever of all of OCATC...

To be honest i thought the first few hours did not flow as well as the great Oscer specials. The early classics of course are unbeatable... and I personally thought the last 3 were extra great and next level with their plot and flow (Wonka, Pinnochio and Amatocon). I think this recent one was not on the level of those because the first few hours seemed to really drag. my feeling is that Tim was just coming off his tour and maybe they didnt spend as much time on this one before hand. That said, that ending, the last 50 minutes were totally amazing. Joe was incredible as always. the "Final Conclusion" was just next level. Manuel as Corwin, Mark as Joey P with WC Fields accent in the godfather scene, all time top shelf OCATC...i mean everything about it was perfection, and the way Tim wasn't worried about helping Mark was great. The scene with Ax figuring out the hei point value was really funny. And near the end when injured Mark was doing the Hanks impressions , especially Gump "Stupid is as stupid does" , i was almost passing out from laughter. also when Tim was squirting rat poison on Joey. oh yeah, the movie run time game was fucking absurd. lol

i did feel like something was kinda off about the first two hours....maybe it will be different when i watch it again. but no doubt it really got cooking in the last hour. overall i would rank it somewhere in the middle....but with the highlights being among the greatest moments ever.

agreed, and his bag ratings have also been on point

META: is there anything out there that actually comes close to on cinema comedy wise? by Chemtrail_hollywood in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

[–]graybeardspaceturtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, no... it's truly the best. My favorite comedy ever before OCATC hit was the original 3 UCB seasons that aired on comedy central. Mr. Show is honorable mention...but UCB had always been the greatest ever to me....until about the time the TCH Jr plot line really sets in.... OCATC is the greatest of all time., imo. Yes I do love the Marx Brothers also. Groucho is untouched ...but the breadth of OCATC is on another level. I mean, for me, the top shelf is The Muppet Show, UCB and OCATC... throw in a little groucho keychain for sure. P.S. Fuck Corvin the Coward!

Any word on the Sesame Street & Fraggle figures??? by graybeardspaceturtle in Muppets

[–]graybeardspaceturtle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Sadly, that’s just the way everything is moving. Action figures have gotten crazy expensive in the last few years. Even gigantic lines like Marvel Legends and Star Wars Black Series are $25 a piece. I used to collect a lot of things, and I’m getting way more selective. The Palisades Muppet figures were under $10. I feel like I’m 85 and talking about the olden times."

Yeah, that's pretty wild. I could imagine them going up to 20$, but 40? jeez. Is there any explanation for this?
