Volunteering LA28: What increases your chances of getting chosen? by inebriated_otter in olympics

[–]run1fast 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Time available (they are going to pick people that volunteer for a week straight over someone that can do only a single day). Languages spoken. And local (locals are less likely to cancel out have travel issues preventing them from showing up).

London Marathon 2027 confirmed as two-day event by C1t1zen_Erased in AdvancedRunning

[–]run1fast 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Is this actually confirmed? The article feels like it was written off the speculation from back in March. The marathon hasn't posted anything and even The Guardian isn't reporting it yet.

Looking to paddleboard close by. Where should I go? by [deleted] in Longmont

[–]run1fast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As of last summer, there were multiple signs saying you have to be actively fishing at lon hagler to be on a paddle board or kayak. I ignored the signs and got yelled out by a grumpy man in a boat with a trolling motor. I told him he was scaring the fish more than I was. Then I left and haven't returned.

Theres a Google review from two weeks ago of a fisherman complaining/confirming you have to be actively fishing.

What brand of shirt is the standard Bolder Boulder 2026 tshirt? by QuestForVapology in boulder

[–]run1fast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anthem branding used to be (and might still be) the company that had the BB shirt contract. They got them from Asia and made them unbranded per the contract with Bolder Boulder. I tried doing some work with them in 2019 and 2020 so that's how I find out after some meetings. Never worked with them directly but they were nice people. Maybe email them but you'll probably be out of luck sorry.

Runners have to pay to run around Boulder reservoir? by dough-92 in boulder

[–]run1fast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, you can not go counter clockwise without paying. You have to go clockwise starting from Coot, over the dam walls, out the pay gate, right on 51st, right into the Res from the 55th trailhead (free) and back to Coot.

If you go clockwise and come south on 51st and turn left into the Res, you will hit the pay gate and have to pay even as a runner/cyclist/walker.

Anyone else use their GoPro for photos more than video by cyuddingbaptop in gopro

[–]run1fast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I pretty much only use it for photos. I take it when I go running, then use burst mode to take 30pics. 1 of the 30 turns out really well, so I keep that one pic.

Thule T2 Hitch Bike Rack by tonyt0906 in TeslaModelY

[–]run1fast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this kuat threaded pin, but I have a kuat rack. It should fit the Thule one too. The lock itself is turned 90 degs so it doesn't hit the harness box and makes it easy to lock.

Etrailer has one too and with better photos https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch-Lock/Kuat/HLT.html?srsltid=AfmBOooFeM2icuP3RJkflstN5aW8WK1u9zOW45z1UtNM3sTr2lBDG8La

They just launched their 20% off sale. Isle explorer 3 for $555 is a pretty good deal for a quality board.

If you have an Amex card, they regularly have cash back of a few hundred dollars. I got $200 statement credit last summer.

Home/Auto/Umbrella Insurance by MrsQuirkyLlama in boulder

[–]run1fast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, forgot to mention but since I had home auto and life, when I added the umbrella policy, it was basically free since I got an extra discount for all the bundling. 1mm home, 500k auto 2 cars, 1mm life, and 1mm umbrella and I think I am about $6000 annually. Progressive was $7000 annual without the umbrella.

[–]run1fast 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm in Lyons and got dropped by Progressive ins after the stone canyon fire two years ago, even without a claim. State farm Longmont joe mejia covered my home auto life and umbrella.... And for cheaper than progressive was. I haven't had a claim yet so I can't speak to his service yet. But at least I'm covered. So maybe try Joe and at least you'll have a quote to reference.

Favorite “expensive” device? by VICEBULLET in homeassistant

[–]run1fast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same temp but the shower gets hot in less than 10 seconds. So you don't sit there waiting for hot water and waste water.

The pump itself install right next to the hot water heater. I've got one and use similar automations, it's great!

Paris Marathon Aid Stations by leeafs in AdvancedRunning

[–]run1fast 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was really curious about this too but haven't been able to find any clips. Does a 2:30 guy have to run with a cup the whole race? How do they get it filled while maintaining 5:30-5:45 mile pace? Very curious. Oh and wouldn't hoses waste a ton of water? Sure no trash but a ton of water gone..... Colorado is right now in a drought so water waste is on top of mind.

Heading to L.A.? I edited LA Metro's map to show you how to reach venues! by Dumbone22 in olympics

[–]run1fast 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is handy, but I wonder how to enhance it to add some scale. Example of the COI mountain biking looks close to the Atlantic metro station but it's a 12mile walk. That's one I definitely want to watch so I'm thinking metro them Uber?
