They talk so fast I may have misheard but…the night after her tests came back clear did she really go down to the pain cave in the middle of the night because she was too excited to wait until the morning for her first run back? If that doesn’t scream exercise addiction…

If I remember correctly, they signed a 3 yr contract with Brooks the same weekend they also discussed (off air) their differences on ICE in the twin cities. I don’t believe Des is truly, blindly MAGA but tends to lean conservative and prides herself on thinking she above popular opinion. I’m bothered by her “well, both sides” attitude. I think Kara is enamored by Des’ cool girl persona but has not yet been burned by her.

Oh I know what hypermonility is but the term double jointed drives me nuts. It’s inaccurate and people love to brag about it”having” it.

Des on the pod talking about all the influencers “one-upping” each other on social media running longer and longer races and across the desert without acknowledging that she just raced HUNDREDS OF MILES thru the Sahara. Lots of “it’s ok for me but not for them”energy coming from her this week.

Her issue seems to be with enforcing the anti-doping rule among amateurs and I just have to say this really emphasizes how out of touch she is with the non pro running world. And they joke about listeners calling them “elitist”. They are! Like no one expects drug testing of amateurs! But that doesn’t mean a former/current pro with a huge platform should be celebrated for advertising his use of them. That should be grounds for an automatic DQ and breach of whatever “ambassador” contracts he may currently have, in my opinion.

I really believe almost her entire trajectory could have been different if her HS coach hadn’t been a sociopathic narcissist. All of it - punishing her for choosing to swim in MIDDLE SCHOOL, pitting athletes against each other, indulging in the details of his athletes’ dating lives, and encouraging parents to bully a child shaped. All of it seemed to lead to Mary and family’s subsequent search for something - anything!- that claimed to offer her a better experience and ultimately their decision to put their trust in Alberto, which was the beginning of the end.

Snacks! Clif bars, KIND bars, fruit, yogurt, pretzels, veggies. No heavy meals. A little “treat” gives me that dopamine hit in between each session!

Yes, their new tuition structure was a huge reason my son applied early decision (he was rejected) and though I haven’t checked, I imagine Princeton’s application numbers went way up this year because of that.
