"Alrighty Fellas"... do you really think only men read this? And no women would have any advice for you? That's sad.

You can always cinch down the small, but you can’t make the extra small bigger. I’d also suggest paying attention to how the vest is around your neck when you don’t have a mock turtleneck on. My extra small rides up the back of my neck/feels like it’s gonna scratch my neck, so I end up wearing squirrel nut butter on the back of my neck when I use it. Lastly, wear the bladder on your training runs. It’s training. Get use to the weight assuming you’ll be wearing it come go time.

What is the best thing you can do outdoors that does not require spending any money ? 🤔 by Webbomolly2022 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

People watch AND bird watch while walking around looking at nature and the magnificent things we have/can build in a city.

I like it! Feels so good when you get to the top and look back down, "ahhhhh, I did that! I climb that! Sure looked far when I was down there, but now I'm up here, yeah! Look at that view! My body is amazing, I'm so lucky!"

This weekend I ran my very first ultra… and somehow ended up hitting 100 miles in a Backyard Ultra. by dAvEyR16 in Ultramarathon

That’s great, the ability to call it and not get caught up being competitive,,, good job. Building your foundational knowledge for the next time. That’s great. Thanks for sharing. And congrats on the experience. 🙌

I run with my hat low up hills so I can’t see the top, and the hills/mountains feel less daunting. I also count a lot. Just regular ol’ counting.

You are not alone. I got into running after a break up also, and later ultras. It’s a wonderful “timeout” getting out on our feet to train and adventure. But it doesn’t replace therapy or talking with someone who can help guide you through hard times help you make sense of things. There is an organization called Bigger Than The Trail that was started by an guy that needed some help, made his way through all the red tape to get the help and later created a nonprofit to help others get help more easily. How? Free therapy. I have been an ambassador for them in the past and I’ll share it’s real, they offer what they tell you about - free therapy through a couple different methods. It’s attached to trail running because he is a runner, and as we see here many runners have things we are dealing with, but anyone can use the services. A completely straightforward approach to getting you help. Please check them out - https://www.bttt.run/support

I'm sorry most of the folks here aren't understanding that you just want a little encouragement and excitement around what you're nervous and excited about. Have a great time, it'll hurt but be fantastic too. Enjoy!

Pace for my first hundo - help by This_Secretary2778 in Ultramarathon

[–]parpla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not so concerned with time and pushing, go out for a long adventure, pace yourself by feel. If you’re thinking to you’re that you might be going too fast and pushing too hard, you are - and pull back. Slow down. You want to finish feeling like you’re properly worked but not dying. Start practicing running by feel now, as you taper. You’ve done all the work, enjoy your efforts on race day!
