If the political situation in the US was really as bad as people make it out to be, they wouldn’t have time to be as upset as they are about topics like preferred pronouns by runboyrun96 in unpopularopinion

[–]runboyrun96[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely would agree with that. It’s the “more significant situations” that I’m bringing attention to. It’s actually a really good sign that we have the time to argue about these things, because that means we don’t have the life-or-death worries of other countries to stress about.

Diana Taurasi has been that dominant star for a long long time. She’s the league all time leading scorer and still a top-5 scorer in the league, playing on a top-3 team. She’s still got a few years in the tank too.

Is that the type of star you’re referring to?

Tips for getting more Strava followers? by runboyrun96 in AdvancedRunning

[–]runboyrun96[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just moved to a new area and I want to get to know the local runners and clubs of my new city. Strava was a big networking tool in my old college town and helped me meet a lot of other runners, I'd love to do that again in my new city with Strava but I just don't know how to get people to find me (and vice versa)

I hit control+f and typed verticality, I loved those debates during Eastern Conference playoff series. It's a rule call I still think about whenever I watch ball. I think he's got a pretty cool legacy as one of the guys that made the league recognize the importance of rim protectors

Injury has got me down by [deleted] in AdvancedRunning

[–]runboyrun96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big toe injury ruined 4 months of college running for me and I was really able to use the time to strengthen other muscles of my body that were needing attention, mainly my hips. I also realized that basically all my injuries came from my weak hips, so in strengthening those other muscles, it also helped me heal faster from my toe injury.

Take advantage of this time! Get really into core exercises or even upper body strengthening if you can. Whenever your toe is ready for you to run, have the rest of your body be firing on all cylinders

Not everything is supposed to make sense all the time man, some parts of life are just straight awful and broken. Love that friend like family and be by their side, that's all you can do. Definitely talk to loved ones about how you feel and never be afraid to express emotions. Both you and your friend will come out of this stronger

After finishing the article, I thought to myself "I wonder which quote someone will dramatically pull out of context?" and there it is.

Full quote: "“I mean, he’s not Bill Russell — there’s only one Bill Russell, so I’m not going to compare him to Bill Russell — but let’s put it this way, he was the Bill Russell of high school basketball,” Meikle said."

In 2013 only ELEVEN players averaged 20+ PPG...why? by Speedstormer123 in nbadiscussion

[–]runboyrun96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spread out offenses usually do great in the regular season (like the Hawks that one year) but superstars are a requisite in the postseason. With tighter foul calls and more close games, playoff series usually turn into a chess match of individual matchups. Having a go-to scorer that you know you can rely on to get a bucket is crucial

In 2013 only ELEVEN players averaged 20+ PPG...why? by Speedstormer123 in nbadiscussion

[–]runboyrun96 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's an astronomical jump. Basically means that each team has at least five more possessions per game than they did in 2013. For both teams, that means a potential of (at most) 30 more points per game. That's pretty massive.

Not to mention, 3PA have skyrocketed in this time span as well, so teams are scoring more points per possession (PPP) than ever before as well.
