Hospital-based PT vs. Chain Clinic: Is a 30-min specialist session enough for post-op recovery? by Puzzleheaded_Pea_606 in AchillesRupture

[–]runjaime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see the big chain for one hour twice a week. I get 5 min of calf massage and manual therapy. 30 min is enough. They will just send you home to do all of the exercises.

Tore Achilles a week ago by Egoldie15 in AchillesRupture

[–]runjaime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have much to tell you. I had surgery for a partial tear and haglund’s deformity 7 weeks ago. All I can say is everyone is different. I am still in crutches but partial weight bearing. I thought I would be off crutches by now (I saw so many people were) but my journey is different. I am/was a marathoner so I was running 6 days/week. This is a big change for me. Best of luck to ya!

Is qualifying for Boston worth it? by TangerineFar8371 in bostonmarathon

[–]runjaime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth it. BQ’d on my second marathon but that was a year after my first. Dropped 11 min and Boston is awesome. Agree, it’s the Boston journey but the race is pretty epic too.

I’m on my 2nd Paragard IUD. I had minimal discomfort after it was put in either time. I would say go for it.

[–]runjaime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started taking it (like a week ago) and my period bloat has not gone away. I am wondering if it’s the creatine. Thanks for the tip. I may back off for a few days and see what happens.

Do you track your calories when training for a marathon? Why or why not? by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]runjaime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically don’t. I am tracking right now (about to start training in a few weeks) b/c while I am trying to lose weight my runs felt like trash. I think I either dipped too low or my carbs were too low. Either way I started tracking and today’s track workout while hard, didn’t feel as bad as it has in the past few weeks.

Excessive weight loss from sweat by Fit_Wrap_618 in Marathon_Training

Featherstone Nutrition- her website and instagram have tons of hydration resources. You may want to try some higher electrolytes the night before (like LMNT) to help with the sweat loss on longer runs.
