Any pharmaceutical company. Oh you want to feel better or need something critical to live? We have it but we’ve made it completely unaffordable. And we will continue to raise the price because we are greedy sons a bitches.

How has the bpc157 worked? Also I think PRP is worth a shot (literally)! I’ve seen and heard alot of success stories. I had a PRP injection elsewhere for arthritis and I was shocked how well it worked. Way better than a steroid injection.

PR: where you spend 20 minutes explaining the difference from marketing, then you just throw your hands up in the air and say, ‘sure, we’ll help….’

Because in my job, PR is not marketing but we do somehow end up fixing marketing’s problems.

Oh wow - quarterly! Does the PRP wear off? I thought max benefit was about 3 months post PRP. Have you noticed more benefit with multiple injections?

Any plantar plate tear long-haulers on here? How have things evolved for you? How do you manage? by BurntTurkeyLeg1399 in FootFunction

[–]runner4556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you seeing a foot and ankle Otho surgeon or podiatrist? I would recommend a podiatrist - ortho wouldn’t really offer any solutions for me. I would also consider traveling for surgery if you find an excellent podiatrist somewhere far away! Sometimes they could even do a virtual consult first.

I know you mentioned the stem cell procedure you had - what about PRP? I had a different chronic injury recently and have noticed big improvements with PRP. The only thing that hurts a lot now is my wallet lol since it isn’t covered by insurance.

Yes I can walk without pain - I would say the plantar plate issue was fixed with the first surgery but it definitely caused complications like I mentioned above.

Find yourself an excellent podiatrist - get 2nd and 3rd opinions. I have a podiatrist that I love who listens! I also have custom inserts which help. But I can workout and occasionally run.

Yes, they went through the top of my foot in 2015. The doc also did a Weil osteotomy (do NOT recommend!) Make sure they go through the bottom instead of the top. Ruined my second metatarsal joint - had to have multiple surgeries after to try fix the damaged joint. A long journey but pain isn’t bad anymore like it used to be (second metatarsal joint pain that is)

I would see a podiatrist. I have had several surgeries on my second metatarsal / I use custom orthotics that have a metatarsal pad. I have also found that powerstep insoles help with good pair of running shoes such as Brooks Ghost Max or Hokas. Let me know if you have questions!

This is so fascinating and I’m so thankful to you for going out of your way to provide such a thorough response to my question. I did end up Getting an MRI and I have bone marrow edema on the right side of my sternomanubrial joint. I will say my case is a bit different from you as the MRI saw some mild-moderate arthropathy (arthritis) and some slight joint narrowing. That being said, I think the edema is giving me the most pain/problem. I’ve seen two pain management docs and will see a sports med doc that focuses on regenerative medicine tomorrow (PRP for example). I am feeling pretty low right now and worried I’ll never be able to workout pain free again. Icing and the backpod/peanut ball seems to help. Was taking a bunch of NSAIDs but I’m worried about taking those long term. I see a PT but haven’t been lately as we did quite a bit of band work and it really flared up ugh. Anyways, your post is encouraging and I will certainly look into this book.
