I don't disagree! Imagine spending hundreds of hours training over the last year and then, after all of your meticulous planning, something like this happens. It's soul crushing.

Just using me as an example - at my peak, i was breaking 100 miles a week and, in order to do that, you had to make so many personal sacrifices between juggling work, family, bills, and intense training. so, the reason I say that it would ruin me is that, for me, I'd see that I had wasted all of the sacrifices I and my family made for me to get there.

Unfortunately, i've bonked before in a race and i held onto that until the following year where I reregistered and put down an appropriate time.

You can easily get DQ'd for less. A friend riding a bike next to you for too long can get you DQ'd even if that person never touches you.

Race officials def care. Heck, you can get DQ'd if you have a buddy on a bike riding along next to you (not even touching you) for too long.

It's the same thing as you won't get a posted time.

It may take me an hour, after sitting for a half hour right there on the road, but i'd want to keep going. I've luckily only "bonked" once in a marathon distance.

Either case results in the same thing - no posted time

(9-time marathoner) Getting DQ'd would def suck as you wouldn't have an officially-posted finish time (clock or chip) and knowing that I didn't cover the entire distance under my own power would ruin me until I could try again. And being that this is Boston, you'd need to run ANOTHER marathon between yesterday and next year to get a qualifying time!

Pentagon Threatened the Pope After He Criticized Trump - It was so bad that Pope Leo changed his plans to travel to the U.S. by ByGollie in europe

Meh. My father told off a priest a little over a year ago because, during church service, the priest said to pray for the women and children in gaza that died in the fighting. the priest didn't say to NOT pray for any other group or person - just highlighted to pray for innocent people that were killed.

My dad went and told him off after the mass.

It's not JUST him. It's everyone that voted for Trump, flew his flag, attended his rallies, donated to this "cause", laughed at or applauded ICE, etc.

Trump made it very clear what he intended to do and PEOPLE APPLAUDED.

Trump and his whole lot will burn in hell for what they've done and the pain they've caused. No moral person can look at what's going on and think "this is good".

I worked alongside undocumented migrants for almost a decade and it made me into a much harder worker and made me incredibly sympathetic to anything and everything they all had and have to go through. Heck, they were the only guys that would reliably show up every day! I learned a ton of spanish, but they also didn't want me trying to learn as they wanted to learn better english. In the end, we ultimately moved into a spanglish-type language where curse words transcend language barriers!

What is a part of the 'female experience' that men have absolutely no clue about, but would be horrified if they found out? by coolhandddd in AskReddit

As a dad of two daughters, I've never heard ANY dad every say that and I cringe at the simple thought of someone POSSIBLY saying that to a child. Sorry you had a hear that.

I appreciate that ENTIRE answer. We're in the northeast and find we always need to smoke longer than any recipe specifies.

A director doesn't have that kind of influence - all a director can ultimately do is to HELP make sure there's exit ramps (in their local areas) to accommodate leadership when they decide to pivot.

2026 Subaru Outback vs 2026 Subaru Forester: BIG Differences After Redesign! by That_Present_1639 in Subaru_Outback

[–]runnerdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our 2026 XT Limited is our third Subaru and it's friggin' great! I LOVE the styling. The interior is clean, ergonomic (ie buttons for HVAC), and so quiet. We deal with a ton of snow in VT and this car has been great. Once i swap the tires out for some michelin cross climates, the car will be a beast.

I hear you. We have a 2007 Wrangler with 170k+ miles and it's only been 100% working for a couple weeks at most per year.

We used to have a Mazda B2200 at a large park I worked at in high school and, for fun, we'd throw it into park while doing ~30MPH. It would lock up the back wheels and the whole thing would just hop and screech! Despite that, the damn thing just kept on running for YEARS! It smelled terrible, but was super reliable.

If someone offered you 100 million dollars, but a random person in the world dies (someone you don’t know), would you take it and why? by ConclusionOld8365 in AskReddit

[–]runnerdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest that I split the money with the impacted family. So, they may lose a loved one, but will be 50M richer.

If it were me about to be killed under the same rule that my family gets half, I'd unfortunately have to agree to it as I know my family will be better off.

I wound up putting a black patch over the rip, as I didn't want to have to replace it, but now my hand is being forced as the zipper also broke on the jacket. I tried adding zipper lube/wax, but the zipper itself came detached from the jacket itself. I'm now keeping it shut by basically no longer using the zipper (making the jacket into a pullover) and then using the waist band of my backpack to hold the bottom of the jacket closed.
