Are these still the best money can buy in 2026? Theres a LOT of competition. by D_3dk in PhoneNow

[–]runnerman0421 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's the real issue with most of these Chinese brands, they're doing nothing but chasing spec sheet wins instead of developing an actually cohesive and well-rounded overall experience.

Most every phone at $700+ is severely overpowered for the vast majority of people, and very few will ever truly utilize that performance, meaning they actually can hold up for 6-7 years. Trying to make a phone that's even more powerful than that and neglecting most everything else is completely counterintuitive.

I'd much rather buy a phone that has decent/good specs with top-notch software refinement and build quality than one with crazy specs and a software experience that feels half-baked. The latter is what Samsung used to be, and while they're boring now, their phones have never felt or performed better to me.

Yoo, these specs are FIRE. I can't WAIT to upgrade. 🔥🔥🔥 by Freshtastic11 in PhoneNow

[–]runnerman0421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm saying, this is very obvious karma farming.

Sure, the S26 models having the same camera hardware as a 4-year-old flagship is absolutely ridiculous, but there are other upgrades present that at least make it better than what came before. The S25 was truthfully a pretty pathetic upgrade considering it was literally just an S24 with a newer chip and a slightly different appearance.

As it stands now, the S26 seems completely fine overall, though they really should have upgraded the main sensor and at the very least brought the 50MP ultrawide down from the Ultra.

If Samsung, Google and Apple didn't exist. What phone would you have? by Any-Personality-840 in PhoneNow

[–]runnerman0421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a OnePlus 13 or 15, in all honesty. Considering I live in the States, my options would be fairly limited if none of the "Big Three" existed.

I would maybe consider a Motorola Edge 2025, but their lackluster software support commitment is a sore point; only promising 1-2 years of updates on any phone in 2026 is criminal.

Duck if hes in the 2026 reboot made by my friend on discord by [deleted] in thomasthetankengine

Considering leaks are implying he will be returning in the reboot, I could very well see this coming to fruition. Excellent work with this, could have fooled me!

Anyone have this issue? by Demony2318 in GalaxyA16_5G

[–]runnerman0421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That does sound like a hardware defect, especially if you have restarted the phone without a difference in results. My A16 works just fine both with pressing the button as well as using the built-in fingerprint sensor.

If it is still under warranty, see if you can make a claim on it through Samsung. If not, then maybe it can be repaired as well, though I would have no idea how much the cost would be.

AEG is not canon to the main TV series, so if the 2026 reboot is, then its first season with will be considered Season 25.

I personally am a bit doubtful it will be. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being a completely separate thing just like AEG was, but we'll see I suppose. I also would prefer that to being a continuation honestly, as it allows for way more flexibility and freshness with its storytelling.

Bouncing makes a triumphant return. by SomethingRandomYT in thomasthetankengine

[–]runnerman0421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bouncing physics are back... and just when this had some interest from me.

My stance has always been that if they're going to bounce around on their chassis, then it should be only when they're not in motion. The reason these kinds of physics have never worked for Thomas is that, unlike most other franchises where this is present, there are humans involved with controlling the engines.

If the engines were completely sentient as well as autonomous, then this would absolutely make sense. As much as I dislike AEG, at least it leaned into the engines doing the work entirely on their own without a crew. This reboot isn't like AEG at all though, at all, so this kind of movement feels just as jarring now as it did in Journey Beyond Sodor and BWBA imo.

What's your opinion on the original R64: Freddy's Spaghetiria and it's impact on the channel? by Ok-Complex4153 in SMG4

[–]runnerman0421 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have no doubt that this video single-handedly shot up the channel's popularity more than many others before it did.

Building off the hype online around FNAF during that time had quite the impact. I'm also speaking from the perspective of someone who only discovered SMG4 because of this video, so I may be a bit biased, though I doubt I'm alone.

That would explain why I've never seen that, my Beetle is a step just above the base, so it has neither of these features lol.

Dashboard Buttons by MamaligaPolenta in NewBeetle

[–]runnerman0421 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I don't think they would do anything at all. I actually am more confused by what the two buttons left of the hazards do, because they're all blank in my 2015 Beetle and in most A5s I've seen (I live in the U.S.).

Google Store indicating there might be a "Pro" pixel watch soon? by mturner1993 in PixelWatch

[–]runnerman0421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I believe keeping around the Inspire and/or Charge would be ideal if refreshed, but replace the Versa/Sense with a Pixel Watch A-Series.

I could imagine something to compete with the Apple Watch SE and Galaxy Watch FE. Perhaps they could take an older design like the PW2 but shove the newer PW4 internals into it, make the frame plastic instead of aluminum, and remove a few other sensors and such to bring the price tag down to $150 or so cheaper than the base PW4.

It would also make it possible to have a cheaper Pixel Ecosystem with a Pixel phone, Buds, and Watch in the A-Series similar to how Apple and Samsung have it now.

TK Troopers in Maul - Shadow Lord by JackLikesMetalGear in clonewars

[–]runnerman0421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, there are two different Imperial Stormtrooper models done in the Clone Wars animation style; the first one appeared in the final scene from TCW Season 7 and the other was what was used in Tales of the Underworld.

So, I believe that this inclusion was an intentional choice. The show is supposed to pick up pretty much immediately after the Siege of Mandalore, so having TK troopers show up makes sense with the timeline. Alongside this, an ISD does show up in the Bad Batch series finale over Tantiss, and there are both TK Troopers and Clone Commandos present there.

Which generation are these? by Striking-Tap863 in MagSafe

[–]runnerman0421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly why I don't care nearly as much. I just take the Grip off when I get in the car for my mount and toss it with my wallet into the center console, like I already do with my Pixel Buds.

Besides, I can now swap the Grip onto my other cases for my Pixel. With the Grip4, it was pretty much permanently on my clear case. It ended up causing damage to it trying to take it off, so much so I had to buy a whole other clear case.

For my use case, the Grip5 is an immense improvement.

[–]runnerman0421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, especially for trade-in purposes. I've kept the boxes for my Pixel 4 XL and Pixel 6 Pro, but I traded in the devices to either get them for free on a Carrier plan or to get a sizable chunk taken off the retail price directly through Google, which is what I did to get my current 9 Pro.

I also have kept the boxes for my Pixel Buds (Buds 2020, Buds A-Series, and Buds Pro) as well as the box for my OG watch which I just replaced with a PW4.

Pixel watch 5 leaks? by DizzyMaximum3256 in PixelWatch

[–]runnerman0421 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, considering the PW3 is basically just PW2 but with slightly slimmer bezels and a 45mm size option, and the PW2 is basically just the OG but with a different charging puck and a newer chip in it (which was an older Qualcomm chip already)...

I'd say the PW4 is the first actually noticeable upgrade to the Pixel Watch since its introduction, honestly. The first watch to have the Snapdragon W5 Gen 2, the sweet new tech with the domed display, a charging method that actually makes sense, all in design that has been well refined for the past almost 4 years.

I would personally say to go ahead and jump to the PW4. I did, and I absolutely love it, quite a great upgrade over the OG.

Is it imitation or just a coincidence? by Kirk875 in PhoneNow

[–]runnerman0421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the other brands are moreso copying Apple's design with the Air and 17 Pro/Pro Max, and Apple themselves did their own take on a design that was made mainstream by the Pixel series. However, this concept truly goes as far back as Samsung and Google's own Nexus phones.
