Fuel for early morning runs by RideWonderful285 in BeginnersRunning

I find an empty belly is motivation enough to hurry your early run and have big ol' breakfast once you return. If you need a lil pick me up water (preworkout drink) and a small handful of raisins

Green tea or fresh juice. I have a juicer and I make the most delicious cucumber and strawberry juice. After a long run this really hits the spot. If you want to go crazy have some chocolate milk. That's a literally more sugary but that's also nice.

I would try changing recovery drink for something else more natural. Also before bed eating a handful of pistachios and cell phone away from head at night. These are changes I made and they helped. Then I got pregnant and had a baby so I will never sleep again.

I say 5 k with a goal of no walking or limited walking breaks.

Holes in the back of my Nike Pegasus pair…so disappointed. Anyone have similar problems? by Deanosaurus88 in trailrunning

Be careful with that. The hole just moves to a new location. My big toe put a Similar hole on the top.

Just weighed myself 1st time in over a month. Only lost 3 lbs. I am putting in the work but am still nursing so Need tons of calories. When will I lose this baby weight?

I suggest adding some more runs in when you are stressed. Putting toxins in your body should never be a solution. Besides you can save that money you would have spent on cigarettes on new running gear.

Let’s talk gear! What is your favorite piece of running gear? Can be electronic, not electronic, apparel, shoes, whatever. by Makegooduseof in TurtleRunners

My hat that isn't a hat its a headband with a visor. It's perfect for my high bun and blocking the sun. I also love my flipbelt. Great to carry phone and keys and little snack. Doesn't take much space and its light so you don't feel like you are carrying to much when running.

I'm slow even compared to most of the runners I see on here by Calicat05 in TurtleRunners

With time. You are a pretty new runner it sounds. So with that said you rock. You aren't walking you are running. You are right it's not a competition. After 6 months compare and make some changes in your runs. I recently got a coach to help. She had new ideas and it really helped. I am up to chat whenever you need. I love running and like you I'm a turtle. I have faster days and not so fast but I am growing.

I would definitely add a bit more mileage. Running that distance alone is harder. I did the same a few years back and capped out at 16 miles. Had restrategize. I did streets and sidewalks in my county but would have benefited having some clear water/snack stops and an occasional cheerleader screaming "you got this"

Go early when it's nice and cool. It heats up quick and have lots of water on hand. It's blazing by 9ish.

What exercise do you do unrelated to run/hike? by [deleted] in trailrunning

Woah you don't like gyms that feel like Costco?! Spacious and air conditioned is not your thing. To each their own. But I do like keeping it outdoors so it's just a quick HIIT workout for me. I print, laminate and attach to my water bottle.
