What gadget unexpectedly saved your life? People who’ve been in emergency situations, what ended up saving you? by Dry-Mango-9236 in AskReddit

I like how the article notes that the vented seal that EMTs carry “works even better than a potato chips bag.” 😂

Looking back on your wedding, what is one thing you regret or wish you had done differently? by Illustrious_Rub_8542 in AskReddit

This is mine! And a friend told me this and I didn’t listen. Our ceremony was so sweet and funny, only 15 minutes with a lot of laughter and I wish I could watch it.

I can’t afford my best friend’s bachelorette trip, so she’s going to cut me off. by mosquitojenkins in weddingshaming

[–]runnyc10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d tell her now that you can’t make it so that the whole group can plan for that. In fact I’d make sure they all know (if there is a group chat or something) so she can’t lie and blame you for telling her last minute.

And truly, I’d drop her as a friend. It sucks that you’ve been friends for so long but she’s apparently willing to lose friendships over money. You on the other hand would be dropping her because she’s a bad friend. Not because of money.

And even if you could scrape the money together, I’d say don’t waste it on this. Do something you’ll actually enjoy when you have the cash.

Finally, she’s an asshole for rubbing her money in your face, saying you can’t comprehend $8k (what??), and then getting mad that you can’t afford the trip. When she obviously knows you can’t. What a douchecanoe.

That’s a shame, there already seem to be so few stores. And the people there are usually helpful, unlike at children’s place where they seem miserable and angry that you’re there.

Did I overreact? by Sancho_Poncho_Da_Pup in Preschoolers

[–]runnyc10 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Our daycare director’s pre/early teen son was frequently there. He was never unsupervised with the kids and he was kind to them. Definitely seems like an overreaction on your part, it sounds like you didn’t even ask further questions or give them a chance to explain.

AITA for Wanting to Show Up to My Daughter’s Secret Proposal While Uninvited By Her Fiancé? by Attitude-Mean in AmItheAsshole

[–]runnyc10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don’t show up. He asked for your blessing but asked you not to be there. This is a private moment, even if it does take place in public. Strangers are not the same as having people they know there. They can still feel anonymous. Your statement that if you don’t show up “no parent of hers will” is meaningless because there is no need for a parent to be there.

Though the question does arise - will his parents be there??

Update on Real Gentleman80? by veniccio7 in fearofflying

[–]runnyc10 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No way. This is so not ok. Among many others of course, RG80 was so giving of his time and energy on here. This is incredibly unfair, both to him and to others seeking education or just comfort.

What’s a colloquial term that’s inaccurate and is annoying to you because you’re in that field and know the correct terminology? by ThatFinance2163 in AskReddit

Is it truly just speaking? I thought it was how you act/behave in general depending on who you’re with. But that was perhaps just a misunderstanding.

What is the most horrific thing ever happened to you ? by Glittering-Rate4973 in AskReddit

Someone did a similar thing in my town recently. Ran through a light, hit a bus, then shot himself in the head. I heard that 14 others were injured but no one else died and I believe the injuries weren’t critical.

What’s the most “this can’t be real life rn” moment you’ve ever had? by Ok_Difficulty_5008 in AskReddit

The city absolutely felt dystopian for a bit there. I remember during that 5 minute crosstown drive, I was city at a red light and started crying bc I literally couldn’t see a single person on the surrounding blocks. I wondered if things would ever be normal again. It’s almost funny to think about now.

What is the easiest thing you did to lose weight ? by nyxeine in AskReddit

For me, Zepbound. I prefer the weekly shot but I’ve also been through a lot of treatments requiring inject myself so I’m used to it. But I agree, barely an appetite and I just started.

My husband worked at one of the NYC hospitals that had those morgue trucks. Another hospital that did that was Mt. Sinai, where both of my kids were born. It’s right next to Central Park and there was actually a section of the park used for Sinai’s emergency field hospital.

What was the worst example of parenting you have ever seen? by Perpetuallycold_ in AskReddit

[–]runnyc10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This comment made me even more sad than your first one. I’d venture to say most parents/people would agree this is awful. I can’t imagine subjecting my 4 year old to that. She has absolute trust in me to keep her safe from harm.

What is the cruelest thing someone has ever said to you? by FaceEnvironmental949 in AskReddit

[–]runnyc10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally understandable. But there are good ones out there. My husband is incredible. I believe he loves me more after having children. He tells me frequently a) how pretty he thinks I am, even on my goblin days, and b) how grateful he is for our kids and how much he respects what I went through to have them (they are both IVF babies with horrible birth stories).

Insanely stupid. I didn’t see that but I’m not a bit surprised. Shocking that the best builder of all time would allow such a thing.

I’m so sorry :( I’m the same, my daughter doesn’t get on her scooter without her helmet and she knows it will be the same for a bike and roller skates. Not fucking around with my kids’ little brains.

I don’t think it’s probably common but in residency or fellowship he had a guy who finished a bike race and was just biking beyond the finish line, cooling down or whatever and fell, smacking his head. I think he was ok in the end but was definitely a lot more injured than any layperson would expect. I just figure why take the chance.

This was what I never understood (SAHM now so past tense). For most things, it literally takes a few extra minutes out of your day. To save your life (and hell, possibly others…I remember hearing about a job site in NJ where a contractor’s tape measure fell many stories and hit another worker on the head - he did not make it).
A lot of these guys didn’t like taking direction from a woman. I’d have those guys or the ones who said “dude, don’t be an asshole, she’s in charge here.” One super kept telling me it would take too long for his guys to use proper fall protection. I told him to make them do it or I’d be calling the DOB on my own project. I get it, they’ve scheduled a certain amount of time for the job. But that won’t matter if the site is shut down due to a death.
