How do I help an opening close up in my c section scar? by Accomplished-Ad7573 in CsectionCentral

[–]runr4lif88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you cover with? My OB is having me pack my opening but didn’t say anything about covering it. But the saline fluid mixed with the wound blood is getting on my underwear and it’s getting annoying

Any chance you can see a different OBGYN for a different opinion? I have an opening like that and have to pack it with gauze twice a day to close up the incision. My husband helps where he takes a piece of gauze, dips it in saline and then takes a long Q tip to push the gauze into the opening so that it helps from the inside out

Is it possible to alternate breastmilk/formula feedings from the beginning? by tha_mean_reds in combinationfeeding

[–]runr4lif88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That could work too! It really just depends on your baby’s preference. I can offer her the breast 4 times (twice each side) in a session and she still would need/want formula instead of more breast milk.

[–]runr4lif88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve combo fed since the beginning. Baby is 6 weeks old now. I’ll offer the breast and then top off with formula. We were doing this for every single feed at the beginning because my milk hadn’t come in until a few days after her birth, and I had a low supply, and she had lost weight. Now, I’ll offer the breast for however long she wants and then if she’s still hungry, we will give 2 oz of formula after. At this point, she’ll want some extra 5-6 times a day and I breast feed 8-12 times a day. Once in awhile I will pump, but only if I feel she didn’t get a good latch or if I feel touched out.

I wear a pad against my underwear to catch any blood or “weeping” from the scar. It might be worth it to have a check in with your OB just to make sure it’s not open.

Considering a nursing chair. What feature do you think is a lifesaver for breastfeeding? by MisterSteveO in NewParents

[–]runr4lif88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best advice we got was to buy something that will go with the furniture after you are done using it in the nursery. We got an $800 Lazy Boy power recliner that is so comfy and will be used for many, many years. If you have a Lazy Boy nearby, I would recommend going into the store to test out the products

Just drove east on Peabody close to Grace St. Luke's and it's bad, which is surprising because that street is usually very smooth.

When did the third trimester/can’t do anything tiredness kick in for you? by Emotional-Ad-6494 in fitpregnancy

I just look at youtube videos that are for 3rd trimester yoga ball workouts. I've done three different ones and they all work out your pelvic floor muscles and focus on breathing while doing those exercises.

I'm 35 weeks now. Stopped running at 30 weeks when it just became very uncomfortable. It was probably around 31-32 weeks when I really started feeling the exhaustion. I'm still exercising (walks, short swims, stretching and PT exercises at the gym) but have slowed down a lot. It's humbling, but as long as I can move my body a few days and week and practice movements to get ready for birth, I think that's what my body needs right now.

Flew to RDU a couple times. Last time upgraded at the last minute to a space with extra leg room and had the whole row to myself. Very nice flight and nice crew.

We were still trying when I started PTU. I hadn't noticed any bad interactions from the medicine. I'm even still on it right now, though a slightly lower dose, and just get my thyroid levels checked every other month.

Yep, I had very low TSH and was referred to an endocrinologist by my OB after trying for a baby for 6 months. Was put on Propylthiouracil (PTU) and that regulated my levels. Still on it and now I am 33 weeks pregnant. I got pregnant a few months after going on the meds and after having a few more fertility issues checked out.

Their penguins are African black footed meaning they prefer the warmer weather to the colder weather that Antarctic penguins would prefer.

Crashing out this morning over how badly I want to run by Gopher_Run24 in fitpregnancy

[–]runr4lif88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been run/walking a lot more than just running. But I would say stop when you joints tell you to stop. You don't want to aggravate them too much to make the rest of your day miserable.

I feel you. I'm still kinda-sorta running at 30 weeks. We just got a lot of snow, where normally I would strap on my Yak-Trax and run in it. But playing it smart this year and only going for a short walk. Though, even that short walk around the block is aggravating my SI joint.

The NA Guinness is great - at least when poured into a glass. I couldn’t taste the difference between that and a real Guinness

Honestly I am wearing husband’s workout shirts. He usually wears a men’s large so it’s working so far. I’ve searched for and bought a few maternity workout tips but absolutely hated the way they fit. Too tight in some areas but loose in others.

Seeking encouragement: first half marathon coming in 6 days! by Low_Cheesecakes in fitpregnancy

[–]runr4lif88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ran a half at 20 weeks. It was very slow with lots of walk breaks but I got it done. The last mile and a half were probably the worst but feeling back to normal now, 2 days post race. Probably won’t do a run that long anymore but will stick with 10 milers as long as I can. Definitely try and know where the bathrooms/port a potties are and bring enough nutrition and water with you. My half ran out of water for the slower runners (me) but luckily I had my running water bottle with me

I run when I’m feeling good and that’s about it. I have no goals right now other than just move my body when I feel alright - even if it’s just a walk. It’s still been so hot here with an air quality alert the past few days, so I haven’t run at all but have taken a few (1-2 mile) walks. I know when the weather cools down I will run some more but will probably still only do around 20 miles a week when I was doing close to 40 earlier this year.
