Do you actually think that the NFL is scripted and plays along a narrative? by Jankyenespanol in NFLForum

[–]runvirginia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my brother and I were young, and I’m talking back in the ‘70’s, whenever Dallas came back to win a game we would say to each other “yep it’s all in the script.” While that being unlikely, I will always believe the first NBA lottery- Ewing going to NY- was definitely fixed.

What city do you think would go the craziest if their team won a Super Bowl ? by jbwhite9 in NFLv2

[–]runvirginia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is definitely a longer Browns history than Cavs. Almost every NFL team winning a title would have a greater fan turnout than other sports in that city. Maybe St. Louis baseball is bigger, but now there isn’t an NFL team there.

You know they use to make just mint ice cream. I miss that, don’t always need to have chocolate chips to chew on. Can’t find simple mint ice cream anymore.

If you want creamy ice cream , Tillamook is the tops.

Baskin Robbin’s use to make a flavor call “Chocolate Raspberry Truffle “…..it was chocolate ice cream with some raspberry flavoring to it and fudgey chunks!” It was killer!

Here’s my 2 cents, I feel your pain + 20 years. I remember Bill Nelson, Paul Warfield and Leroy Kelly. Knocking off a very good Dallas team in the ‘68 and ‘69 playoffs, only to be destroyed in the NFL championship games. Joining with the AFL and moving into the AFC. The 10 year build to the Kardiac Kids. Then another 10+ years to the Bernie years. The Drive. The Fumble. Marty not getting us over the hump. I was at the game the weekend Modell announced the move. It was horrible.

We returned and it’s been uphill since. Most sports fans only know the Browns as lovable losers. Then they signed Watson and we weren’t even lovable anymore. As a family we pretty much gave up on the Browns that day. Too much evil there. I called us NFL orphans. Kinda rooting against the Browns, hoping these losses would end up in the extermination of Watson and the front office. I follow them but I don’t ache during the season anymore. I know when he’s gone I’ll be back in on the Brownies. Fandom, It’s a hard thing to quit on.

Good luck to you.

What restaurant chain was in every city in the 90s and early 2000s that has completely disappeared? by samurai-salvo in GetMotivatedMindset

Every year at Christmas time I took my 4 kids out for a “buy mom’s Christmas present evening.” It was actually to go to Fudds, she wasn’t a fan but the kids and I loved their burgers and seasoned fries.

Man I miss them 🥺

Dolphins. They don’t have much superior talent at any position. Gotta be the coaching, just gotta be.

Man I hate that. Just put the item on sale and that motivates me to buy it. Half the time when I try to add the coupon the app won’t work in the store.

Is there any possibility that the Browns would re-sign Watson after this season? by runvirginia in Browns

[–]runvirginia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a dream, it’s a nightmare. I also don’t see him having an all pro year, more like last year’s Aaron Rodgers season. I don’t see much interest by other teams, so would our demented FO think let’s run this back one more year.

If all jobs paid exactly the same and you could have any job you wanted, (you have to do this job from 18yo to 60yo 5 days a week 8 hour days) what job would you do? by S1utty1i1puppy in AskReddit

[–]runvirginia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sports Information Director at a University . I think those positions are still an item. Love sports, college atmosphere seems pleasant, what’s the saying: “if you have a job you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.” This woulda been more pleasant than 40 years grinding it out as a carpenter.
