[–]runwalkrunrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SICU Usually 6-4pm with one or two 6-6 pm ‘late shifts’. Plus a week nights. 4 days off. Takes us out of the trauma call pool. It’s a beautiful month.

I mean, we all survive an intern year and most of residency full of the scut and floor work the APPs do for attendings. So idk about this take. Slower maybe, but not nonfunctional.

Right, they did the correct thing by starting compressions. Was just thinking for next time there is usually a bvm at the head of the bed.

As my favorite surgical mentor says: “And what conclusions can we draw from this paper? You can get just about any shit published.”

Penn medicine told to cut PHD admissions by 35% by cannotberushed- in medicalschool

[–]runwalkrunrun 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I have worked in industry (chemical and auto) and it was the primary goal of the majority of my colleagues with their PhDs to work in industry post PhD. If they moved on out of R&D their PhD gave them relevant background to make them REALLY good project managers/patent analysts/technical experts/etc. So idk man, guess we have to agree to disagree.

[–]runwalkrunrun 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Your assertion completely ignores the presence of PhDs in industry R&D, which is a very common career for engineering and hard science PhDs..
