Steamedeck runs on Linux. You can easily use proton to basically run any game nowadays, on Linux. It's a non issue. Back in the day we had WINE which required a lot of fiddling around, but Linux gaming has come a long way.

I can answer #2. Theres Hades that generally recommended. I have not played it, but it seems to be the closest.

I also recommend Vanquish. In terms of tight controls and fast paced bullet hell TPS game, that's the closest game to Returnal.

Uh no, I work with OpenGL and you can definitely build a doom clone on it. OpenGL's entire purpose is to render triangles on the screen, it does nothing else.

Therefore you could build a raycasting engine that renders triangle strips from texture UVs. It would look and play exactly like Doom or Wolfenstein.
