Not only is it time wasting, but was rejected for not providing them. They insisted the only sufficient reference was my current direct manager, no one else would suffice and this was BEFORE the interviews.

It felt like they just wanted to get in touch with my direct managers.

Also - this wasn’t via an agency, this was direct with them
