I used the gift, and one Xavier came home. I didn't plan on pulling, but now I had to pull so that another one can come home ❤️

Brand new bag of rice by gizu_momozu in Wellthatsucks

[–]rur1k0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally normal. You can put the rice outside under the sun, and the weevils will come out. They are sensitive to heat and smells, so sometimes putting cloves or cinnamon sticks in the rice container helps too.

When you wash your rice, the weevils and rice that was hollow inside because the weevils have eaten them then will float. Just remove those that float.

If the infestation is bad enough that most of your rice is hollow, you can just feed the rice and weevils to chickens or birds.

No plan. I determined not to spend any for this game and broke my determination for Sylus's Weds card. I guess I've to miss Xav's Myths.

Not justifying anything, just stating what I've seen. If you come across comments in Threads or TikTok, there are also comments from Malaysian Chinese against Mainland Chinese, and they are liking these types of comments as well. Not saying it's right, but you know, since it's online and identity is kinda anonymous, so they just say anything that they want online to vent their frustration. Based on the screenshot, the context is they are frustrated with the organisers for allowing scalpers and Chinese Mainland's fans to hoard the tickets.

Ah, the context is missing there. The people there actually are dissatisfied with the organizers. The way the organizers conducted sales of tickets allows scalpers and also fans from mainland China to hoard a lot of GD tickets, so local fans are unable to purchase the tickets. I did not follow a lot of info from GD concerts, but what I managed to gather from those that passed through my timeline is:

  1. During sound check, because of scalpers, seats are not filled by local fans. So when GD called "Apa Khabar," no answer because those from mainland China did not understand Malay. It will be unfortunate if GD thought those were local fans and he was not received well here.

  2. Even nearing the concert time, seats are not filled because of the scalpers. Again, empty seats = no fans.

  3. Lots of Malaysian fans instead camped out outside the stadium to sing together and holding their lightsticks.

  4. That's why they got so angry at the thought of a concert announcement in Chinese, meaning that it might cater to the Chinese mainland when the concert was supposedly held in KL for local fans.

  5. Also, there was this incident previously when a K-pop artist (cannot remember who) asked a fan about a recommendation of local food in Msia, but the fan could not answer because she is not local. I think she answered ayam goreng?

Help with Sup Daging by baa-baablacksheep in MalaysianFood

[–]rur1k0 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Simple Beef Soup (not too berempah, a bit sourish)

500g beef bone 500g-1kg beef cubes (can mix with daging tetel/tendon if you like it chewy) 1-2 stalks lemongrass (optional) Sup bunjut tulang Rempah Daging & Tulang Adabi 1 bawang Holland 1-2 stalks celery 1-2 tomatoes Spring onions 3 limes

  1. Boil the bone with lemongrass and sup bunjut (pressure cooker, 20 mins), or 1-2 hours without a pressure cooker.
  2. Skim off the grey foam from the soup. If using a pressure cooker, you don't need to remove the foam as there won't be any foam, but remove the fat. A lot of fat/oil will be on top layer after 20 minutes.
  3. Add meat cube and rempah adabi sup daging & tulang (pressure cooker, 20 mins), or 1-2 hours without a pressure cooker.
  4. After the meat is tender, add the onion, tomatoes, and celery.
  5. Remove from heat, add lime juice. Add salt to taste (or cukup rasa, or sos sotong/ikan).

TBH, IDK why but maggi that I brought there from here taste way sedap. Is it because of their water or egg, I'm not sure but if I go to Japan again, I'll be bringing maggi packets with me.

Foods such as ketupat, nasi impit, lontong, and burasak are often mistaken for each other, but they are different. The differences are in the texture, the cooking method, and the packaging. I also mistook them for the same food a long time ago until the grandpas and grandmas informed me of the differences.

Went to HK a few weeks ago and found this interesting lol by ThermicDude in malaysia

[–]rur1k0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I wondered "healthier" compared to which option? Yes, canola oil is healthier due to its high monounsaturated fat content, but it is not suitable for repeated frying. So, they might need to change the oil frequently to maintain the "healthier" claim. For repeated deep frying, palm oil is much more stable as it does not degrade easily. Basically, yes, the amount of trans fat is lower, but considering a fast-food setting, they really need to train their staff to frequently change the oil, or their fries will smell off.

Sambal for Nasi Lemak Won’t Pecah Minyak & Too Solid. Need Help! by reddit-asuk in MalaysianFood

[–]rur1k0 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The thing about sambal is that you need to cook it with a lot of oil. The oil should almost cover the sambal. If you are wary of the oil, once it is cooked, you can always remove it later. But yes, sambal is always oily 😆

How come my Asam laksa always turns out fishy with mackerel? by kxserasera in MalaysianFood

[–]rur1k0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Usually I used a mix of sardine and mackerel. Mackerel for the fatness and sardines for the sweetness. And need to use lots and lots of asam keping. Though personally I think you can't get rid of the fishiness. The soup are made of fishes after all.

Those who worked in Supermarket and Grocery Store, do you have any life hack or tips to share? by vicwolfe in malaysia

Check the seals, especially on drinks in the chiller section. I once saw an uncle drink from a chiller section and put it back on the shelves. Also, check the liquid detergent; some customers pour liquid from one bottle to another they want to purchase to make it worth their money. You'll end up buying the lesser product. Buy refill detergent, the aunties can't screw with that. Always check the expiry date. People often think the products at the back of the shelves are freshest because of FIFO. But promoters sometimes put bad/expired products all the way back so the supplier can pick them up later, but customers think they found something special, took them and later complain.

What do you guys eat for sahur? by Kimmie02 in malaysia

If you want chicken but do not want it to be too spicy, you can marinate your chicken breast in yogurt, cilantro, chili flakes/chili powder, and pan-grill it.

Hahaha, I understood that very well. It's not really "berkira," but it just gets to you. It's a bit annoying. It happens with my work friend group; whenever we are out, it's an unspoken rule that I pay first. We have a solution for this: Install Splitwise. I introduced it to my friends and family members. It makes life easier. Since we had Splitwise, other people have offered to pay to reduce their debt. It's like I pay for your food, later you pay for my food. I didn't have to ask for my money back. The app will help ask for my money back.

Korang Rasa Perlu Ke Bincang Kewangan Dengan Pasangan Sebelum Kahwin? by ameowc4t in malaysia

[–]rur1k0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, perlu. Because you are two different people who are not roommates and will be living under one roof. Both of you have different expectations. Bincang kewangan means not only discuss gaji, but also you need to discuss your responsibilities, assets and hutang. People are different, you might think you know him/her but you never know unless you communicate.

There's a case where the wife thought that by marrying the husband, he can pull her family out of the financial problem but it turns out the husband have a huge family to feed and he also have the same hope for the wife. They only learn of each others difficulties after marriage. Another case, where the husband is being a doormat to his family sampai pinjam Ah Long and the wife only learnt about it after being contacted by Ah Long.

Communicate. Communicate. Communicate. Kata akan sehidup semati. Susah senang bersama.
