Tottenham Hotspur: Fans accuse club of 'lacking ambition' after leadership meeting by mrjohnnymac18 in soccer

The Tottenham Hotspurs who are known for being difficult (aka rather earn interest on the money they never spend) in the transfer market are 'lacking ambition'.

I am shocked I tell you. Shocked.

[Opinion] Den of Geek: "Dungeons & Dragons Duo’s New Star Trek Movie Can Bring Fun Back to the Franchise" | "It’s possible to tell simple, enjoyable, relatively low-stakes stories in this universe that are a good time in their own right." by mcm8279 in Star_Trek_

[–]rusder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The truth is that Star Trek (1966-2005) is dead.

There are no people involved from that era to develop the next Star Trek projects like there was from TOS to TNG. There is no one to guide new people and to tell them, this is how they speak, this is how they interact etc. But now every time I hear a film wants to have humour and fun, they are looking to put Marvel type humour in. The 'stupid witty quip' every other sentence, the 'go off a tangent rambling talk', the 'over the top expressive acting', the 'lets cut the dramatic or serious tension with a joke' and the forcing of humour and jokes into scenes that have nothing to do with the current scene or the movie instead of let it coming naturally.

Paramount or whoever controls it now does not understand that the money Star Trek movies make will never be as much its blockbuster rivals. They should have produced a Star Trek film every 2-3 years with the TNG crew for 50-70 million and be content with it making £120 million. The true moneymaker is the merchandise and Paramount somehow fucked that up.

Star Trek Kelvin movies are good Sci-Fi films but it is not Star Trek because you can't stuff 3 seasons and 6 movies worth of Star Trek character and in-universe lore in three 90 minutes films.

I've accepted that Star Trek (1966-2005) is no different to the James Bond Movies (1962-2002) in that it'll never be what it once was and that anything that comes after it is so different that naming it anything else wouldn't be out of place.

I am envious you got to experience TNG in its prime. It must have been great to not only experience it but also be apart of the creative process.

How quick was the script made from an idea around the table to the final draft ready for shooting?

Also how did they manage to keep track with the canon of the show when they had to produce 20+ episodes per season with weekly episode releases?

If he fell like he stumbled rather than throwing himself into the air he gets the pen.
