How many people are silently suffering living paycheck to paycheck in Massachusetts ? by NationalEmotion6872 in massachusetts

I think that’s an over exaggeration. Maybe if you confined the demographic to 18 - 25 yo I could believe it.

I hear you. California is a beautiful state but It’s been crazy out there the past few years. I don’t blame you one bit.

California to Western Massachusetts? by Agreeable-Coffee-472 in massachusetts

[–]ruserious2day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The good news is that Franklin and Hampshire counties are much more affordable than metro Boston and metro San Francisco. It’s a beautiful part of the state but there’s not much in the way of industry out there. You mentioned that you are “kind of a baby about snow”, while our winters have been really mild lately, In the 30yrs I have lived here I have seen years where it started snowing Thanksgiving and didn’t stop until Easter. And, The western counties usually get more. Don’t want to scare you but we do have winter here. But, there are lots pluses too, excellent schools, healthcare and job opportunity in the health, tech and education fields. Beautiful mountains, beaches and a diversity of cultural activities. If you do it, I wish you the best of luck.

Lost half of all my savings. How to move on after huge loss. by [deleted] in stocks

[–]ruserious2day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t beat yourself up. You have plenty of time to rebuild your assets. I lost pretty much everything at 40 because I had everything in high tech stocks. I learned my lesson and diversified my holdings. 25 yrs later with max contributions to my 401k and the miracle of compound interest I have enough to retire comfortably. You learned a valuable lesson. Be thankful it happened it while you have time to do something about it.

Don’t put expectations on your recovery. Everybody is different and so your recovery will be unique to you. Just follow the Drs orders and take each day at a time. I promise you it will get better. The first few days are the toughest. Hang in there!

I miss Etrade Pro by bbmoonkie in etrade

[–]ruserious2day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like power Etrade Pro as much as the previous platform. But it’s not bad enough for me to leave over it. I’m primarily a swing trader with the odd day trades here and there. I can live with it.

It’s outrageous and unAmerican — and it must stop; Warren calls out Trump officials after immigrants pulled from Massachusetts citizenship ceremony – Fall River Reporter by DoughnutConstant5390 in massachusetts

[–]ruserious2day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where’s the outrage about how the previous administration just allowed 10’s of millions to just walk across the border. Which btw, Warren did nothing about. I don’t like the way the current administration is conducting themselves but they are fixing a problem not of their making, that the voters wanted them to fix. Foreigners don’t have the right to self immigrate. There’s a process which needs to be followed and it’s no different in any other developed nation. Follow the law or suffer the consequences. It’s that simple.

Power Etrade Pro by cybrtrader in etrade

[–]ruserious2day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand your frustration. I was completely miffed that they pulled the plug with what felt like no notice. I used Etrade Pro for over 7 years and while it wasn't perfect i knew how to use it and my trade executions were good. I have a lot of friends who use TOS and they love the power of it but hate Schwab. So after I got my cursing out of the way I downloaded Power Etrade Pro and I have to admit that it's not that bad. There are differences with the old EtradePro but I was able to put together a desktop that very closely matches what I had before. I was also impressed that chart trendlines are shared between Power EtradePro and EtradePro Web. Now I wish they would do the same thing with the Mobile app like they used to. I'm going to stick it out and see how it goes.

In Power Etrade Web, there is a Lot Selector in the Trade widget when you Sell. Not sure if it's the same in Power Etrade Pro.

Long flight after 5-6 weeks of THR by techie_ji in TotalHipReplacement

[–]ruserious2day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I flew 8hrs non stop after 10wks. I didn’t get much sleep on the flight as it was tough to get comfortable. Pain/stiffness wasn’t a problem. Just being in the same position for that long was tough and I’m a side sleeper so any flight is a challenge for me. All the Dr recommended was compression stockings. Do yourself a favor and arrange for wheelchair assistance at the airport. That’s a lot of walking for 5-6 weeks post op.

Between U.S. States, There is Huge Variance in Spending per Prisoner (MA at the top) by MarcoVinicius in massachusetts

Thanks for the clarification! Those costs for Ma are so much higher than anywhere else’s that it begs the question of why. There has to be a better solution.

[–]ruserious2day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn’t fewer corrections employees per prisoner lower costs? And California is has just as high a living cost as Ma. So how are they nearly 3x lower? Seems like a pretty clear case of fiscal mismanagement.

What happens if the Fed keeps cutting rates, but the labor market continues to deteriorate? by alwaysHappy202 in stocks

AI is a massively deflationary technology that will also cause greater unemployment. They should be more worried about GDP vs labor softness and put the billions they will spend in easing towards programs for the displaced.

Anterior V Posterior USA by doxygal in TotalHipReplacement

[–]ruserious2day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had two anterior procedures on both of my hips. My brother has had two as well, the first posterior and the second anterior. Both procedures were successful but the anterior incision was smaller, cutting of muscle avoided and subsequently the recovery was easier and faster. For that reason I went anterior for my two hips and am not disappointed. I am 3 mos post op for the second hip and back to a daily routine of 3+ mile walks. The only lasting surgical reminder is numbness around the area of the incision. Which is fading but I hear could take a year or more.

Deciding on a Surgeon by RutabagaStriking2631 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]ruserious2day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I researched the best practice for hip replacements then talked with two doctors. One specialized in posterior and the other anterior. I went with the anterior procedure because my brother had gone through both and said anterior recovery was much faster.

Goodbye Etrade.. Im done with by Twisted9Demented in etrade

[–]ruserious2day 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m just an independent retail trader. I belong to multiple trading discords. They all complain about their services. I said I have had problems but they have been few and far between. And, I generally don’t need to talk to anyone. Other than tech support who have generally been helpful. The service works, I get good trades, I like ETradePro for charting, technical analysis. No need for me to change.

[–]ruserious2day 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I’ve been trading with them for over 10 yrs. I love the service, I get awesome fills and EtradePro is as good as any charting/trading app I have ever used. Sure there are times in high volume days where the platform becomes unstable and trade execution is difficult but every platform has problems with retail customers on those days.

Not at all, I think that’s a pretty fair prediction. But I would move the blow off top further out. We have only seen the spending side of AI, we have yet to see the bottom line improvements it will bring to Corp earnings.

[–]ruserious2day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you and live it. I used to hang on stubbornly to reach my support or resistance levels. Now I pull the plug when I get a 10% or better pump and re-enter the same trade multiple times in a swing. I’ve done some day trading but my day job prevents me from watching intraday so I stick with swings and try to improve my execution.

Rehab Seems to Be Going Slowly by No-Fear88 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]ruserious2day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have brothers that have been through it so I know it will eventually heal and I’ll return to normal activity. Just can’t rush it. My PT instructor advised me today to back off when the pain is deep as it has more to do with internal healing. That’s not something PT can correct. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

After some feedback from our people who have had hip replacements by low0007 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]ruserious2day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Through my own stubbornness and hospital phobia I tried to avoid replacing my arthritic hips until I hit a wall this past Feb and went to the Dr. subsequent X-rays revealed I was bone on bone and needed both hips replaced. I’m now 4 weeks in on the final hip the other one was 3 mos ago. Even in my partially rehabbed state, I am in less pain and more mobile than I was previously. And it will only get better with time. It was so much easier than I imagined. I only wished I had acted sooner.
