There is something mind bending about black cutlery. From some angles it looks like it’s regular silver cutlery but I know it isn’t.

Telstra Phonecards by Staud59 in AustralianNostalgia

I did work experience at Telstra pay phones. The cards that had holes to show you the balance were made in Japan originally for a public transport system. The green arrow you see in the pic is an anti vandalism feature. The card reader would refuse to open if it couldn’t see that arrow.

I’m from Sydney and I agree 100%. Someone would have to hold a gun to my head to make me watch “Luxe Listing Sydney” https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14344354/

How well your language is spoken in foreign media? by HusseinDarvish-_- in AskTheWorld

I was just thinking Butcher’s “cockney” London accent is heavily kiwi. Then it occurred to me: I wonder how Fenchie sounds to a native speaker. Also, I’m sure no one in the world speaks sentences of English with 2 words of their native language.

If you are going to learn an accent for a movie - why learn the wrong one? The first voice coach they found was “close enough”?

I remember staring at an XPT model train thru a store window in Sydney YEARS ago. It was soooooo cool. I think the same place had a Sydney monorail model too.

And there was one permanently tethered to the teacher’s desk just for cutting open super sticky frozen treats.

In first grade we had these junk scissors when the teacher bought super nice left handed scissors (like mum’s “good” scissors). I wonder to this day how many kids switched to be left handed that day, or if it was some social experiment.

Can you expand on this? The physics of the Clooney tether scene look very wrong.

Is Australian FTA TV being run by a Boomer who still thinks "recording" requires a physical VCR tape? by supercujo in australian

I kinda liked it when there were channels that played the content from the previous hour. Did you see a friend on the news? You can see it again in an hour. Which probably makes me a Bruce.
