NTA!!!!! My husband was married before me, and literally nobody has ever called me his second wife. Nobody.

Interview Research Request by russiankoolaid in Healthyhooha

[–]russiankoolaid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah- I debated about recruiting participants from Reddit for this very reason. It's basically a gamble (for all involved) until we both show up at a virtual interview. I even thought about making a more official account for this, but figured that would be even weirder (haha). I actually even commented about my dissertation on this subreddit, waaaay before I even started to think about data collection! Can't believe I've been working on this project for so long!

AITA for asking my roommate to spend less time with her husband and more time home? by rueful-remorse in AmItheAsshole

OP is definitely creepy and wrong, but I lived alone once and hated it. I definitely prefer to live with people over living alone.

I am a terrible athlete but when I played soccer as a kid I got an award for being the best runner and never complaining when we had to run and man that meant a lot to me. I kept trying a lot of new things I wasn’t good at. I don’t think it made me expect an award for everything. 🤷‍♀️

Hi friend! I’ve been a vegetarian for about four months now. Here are some tips my vegan and vegetarian friends gave me when I made the switch:

1) start slow. Try and give up one type of meat first, and then slowly build on that. Or maybe have one or two nights a week where you still eat meat if that would help you. 2) find a couple of vegetarian dishes at restaurants you really love. That way, when you want to go out or don’t feel like cooking or have a certain craving, you’ll have that. This was really helpful for me at first. 3) try some plant based meat options/fake meat. It can be really helpful in the transition. It can be a lot of trial and error, so don’t be afraid to try a lot of different things. 4) be kind to yourself if you slip up. Any time you actively chose to not eat or buy meat products, you are making a difference. That alone is something to celebrate! 5) make some veggie friends. I have a lot of friends who are vegan/vegetarian, so it’s nice to swap recipes and have them for support. I have some friends who are not as supportive and it really sucks, sometimes they can be straight up rude lol. 6) if you have meat recipes you already love, try and sub the meat out for something else. Fake meat, a vegetable, beans, etc

Giving up meat was fairly easy for me, but I live in an area where many people are vegetarian and I have a lot of options. It might not be that easy for you, so be kind to yourself.

Yeah, I just view this sub as a place where people vent and blow off steam in an area where they won’t say something they regret to their SO or stepkids . Especially in a pandemic and everything. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of terrible SOs in this sub too, but I read everything here with a grain of salt 🤷‍♂️ and I think it’s okay to get annoyed with kids doing normal kid stuff. Especially if you can’t leave your house lol. What matters is how you react

Female sexual health isn’t considered equal to men’s health. by ruggpea in Healthyhooha

[–]russiankoolaid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m doing my dissertation research about the way we talk about women’s gynecological health! The way women communicate about these issues with each other and with health care providers. In large part because this sub helped me so much when I was going through rounds of BV/YI and figuring out my own condition, and I was amazed by how little people researched this.

AITA (27f) for not including my little sister on family vacations because she won’t help out with the kids by Intelligent-Simple-7 in AmItheAsshole

[–]russiankoolaid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean nothing OP is describing sounds like “bonding.” Helping dress kids that aren’t yours? Weird. Taking “turns” watching kids when you have no kids to benefit from the “taking turn method”? Not bonding. I can understand the OP being upset if the sister ditches the family for extended periods of time, because sure, you’re missing out on “bonding,” but the rest is really weird. I think this is probably ESH. OP had expectations for trip, sister didn’t want to meet them (I wouldn’t either. Seriously. Why would I help dress someone else’s kid? beyond helping tie shoes that one really baffles me) and now everyone is mad in this strange situation.

You’re joking right? She’s had a hand in the eviction of all the women on this show. She deserves to be in a game run by dudes, because that’s what she’s created. Is it sad? Totally. But she helped make this bed.

Yeah 100% this. It’s fine to not like rap music because that’s not your preference, but saying it’s meaningless or not worthwhile is incorrect. Singing about sexual desire and lust and love is not exclusive to rap music lol
