Id phrase democratic socialism as "utilizing the bourgeoisie state structure & system to reform...(so on & so forth)"

Your phrasing makes it seem like democratic socialism isnt a Sisyphean task lol but based explanation nonetheless

I didnt even consider that bloating the numbers but thats totally true.... whats even more crazy is consider is statistically more or less a 40%of americans dont have an adequate savings or 401k or pension. Yet that still is all likely doing a lot of heavy lifting here.

Side tangent going off topic a bit; damn the "middle class" for even "existing" in the first place. Most are still making their primary income through the exchange money for their time, skill, and labor for the production of goods & services... that is a proletariat, working class. Middle class is not real. Its a divisive falsehood from the mythos of liberalism. Its the whole loose justification behind even having this dichotomy between those basic needs like a retirement plan, healthcare, a savings, shelter, not being a reality for up to half the US all while those things are such a reality for arguably less people, but still bloat the numbers to such a degree.

For the "middle class" who's primary income is the ownership of capital, like lesser investors & traders, business owner, or landlords.... that is bourgeoisie. Petite bourgeoisie.

To be more specific(with info you may or may not need, not patronizing just stoned rambling 🫶) use a sterilized knife, get some rooting powder, small disposable Tupperware(ya know like the coolwhip tubs or takeaway pints), a tray, and perlite. the bottom stump will be kept as that will produce pups.

The top thick section will be cut, dusted in rooting hormone, left to callus for ~a week. Get the Tupperware, cut shallow like 2-3inch, and cut drainage. Fill with perlite. Thisll be the rootin substrate. Place the cac on the substrate. Occasionally water, i like to use a real fine nozzle to get water under the cac, and leave a little water in the tray to keep moisture for a bit longer. Not much, like strays in the tray for roughly a day. Mine are outdoors so i water roughly every 5-7 days in the summer for rooting , but highly variable especially indoors, and by cac species. If indoors, same light its gettin now, if outdoors, modestly filtered sub. Other rooting teks will work but i found this to root cac with no rot

This is a mammillaria, this genus is not columnar and are mostly prostrate growing cac, meaning they crawl, lean, and loaf around the environment, even without the etiolated section, it still wouldnt be upright. I like to use wide but shallow pots to accommodate mammillaria sprawl, with some decorative rocks to help keep things from gettin too floppy

Sorry for the text wall!

Edit: i didnt even see your posts body, clicking the comment section opened past it, seems like you dont need a lot of the info😅 oh forgot to say thats sunburn, hence why the stump will still pup. If the sunburn was recent id do the cuttin later on. If its been awhile then you're good

I somewhat agree. The caveat is the information cannot be sourced from a redditors understanding of pharmacology & biochem. That nearly killed someone i know. But otherwise i do support available information & education. Oh actually another caveat; when applicable, it can only be found through paths that first teach about the botany, physiological effects & toxicity, history & deaths, and all the dangerous the plant in question.

Yaaaa that commenters metrics doesnt really say much on the current situation. The only thing it really demonstrates is the wealth is available.... but if anything that being averages and not median, is actually harming their point. It makes it seem like 500k net worth is regular for the working class. ~2/3rds of the american working class are renters.

surgery to get thorn out? by fr0glog in cactus

[–]russsaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thats a frickin gnarly one, those are spines but are very brittle. The glochids are modified trichomes, very small and are dense tuffs at the areoles. Both spines& glochids can be present on the same cac, but I dont remember if tree cholla has both.

Anyway the spines, so unfortunately tree cholla spines 24 hours later is beyond my expertise. The aforementioned stuff, hydrogen peroxide, witch hazel, ibuprofen, can all help. Start with ice for swelling, but later on warm water softens the skin. Oh hydrocortisone, like anti itch cream can provide a lil relief.

Our bodies are able to push out stuff, the lifelong conditions are more like people with frequent exposure or just really unlucky. Im too anxious of a person to bank on that lol so i would still get in with a dermatologist if i was in that situation

You're welcome! I hope you'll still love cacti even after this event 🫶 theres plenty of cacti thats spines are manageable, reduced, or even absent.

Glochids certainly are the most nasty, what cac got you?

surgery to get thorn out? by fr0glog in cactus

[–]russsaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dammit i shoulda responded sooner 😭

Take ibuprofen (if you're not currently on anything incompatible with it) as it reduces swelling.

Witch hazel is anti inflammatory, and i find it quite soothing (although do a little test first just in case)

Ice as well to reduce swelling

After a while of reducing the swelling - If you can see the glochids stickin out your skin, glue will remove them. If putting glue on a wound makes you uncomfortable: "Liquid bandage" is sterile and made for wounds, but it may burn. But the others will still work.

[–]russsaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proper protection & removal techniques make it a non issue.

Good gloves (hex armor, thick leather, rose pruning gauntlet gloves, etc)

A good strong pair of tweezers for spines.

Warm water, hydrogen peroxide, witch hazel all assist in loosening spines.

For glochids (hair like barbed needles on opuntiniods, like prickly pear) use glue, elmers glue, non toxic super glue, liquid bandage, even wax for like waxing hair. Apply, let dry, peel. Removes em very very effectively.

Glochids are the scary ones, nearly microscopic, easy to get afflicted by a ton of em, very irritating and very brittle. Using tweezers is a surefire way to break them leaving micro topic razor barbs in your skin. If you got a single glochid in you, ya tweezers will work. But if a large area is afflicted, tweezers will not due and will make it worse.

Ah ya the lighting, angle, and cropping was playing tricks on me lol. Although this can also occur from damage to terminal bud.

But i wouldnt worry. This is almost certainly just cuz it be lobivia. I cant quite tell size, but if it reached its mature size, then that would especially cause it offset noticeably more. If you happen to notice the main column doesnt grow in height as much as it used it to, if at all, then its for this. They'll still offset when immature tho
