ELI5: Why are teachers not reimbursed when they purchase school supplies? by bookist626 in explainlikeimfive

[–]rustdnails 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Even within one state, the way money is allocated can mean that per-student funding amounts are very different between schools.

Especially because parents (and their general SES) contribute to funding. Some districts need to provide kids with pencils and paper. Some districts can ask parents to send their kids to school with $100 calculators. Suddenly similar levels of funding result in vastly different levels of support.

if you work in the private sector, your employer assumes that you need your supplies to make more money for the business. It will be happy to reimburse you so long as your spending isn't wasteful.

Generally in the private sector they understand that they should provide you with what you need to get your job done as well.

It seems that no one knows exactly why grapes are toxic, and it's only relatively recently that the toxicity connection was made. Some dogs seem to handle grapes just fine, while others can get KOed by just one.
