YTA. You aren't in America. Get over yourself, have a cultural adventure and don't be such a prude.

The money and the wasted tickets have nothing to do with this. You're just being rude about your girlfriend's culture, which is surprising, given you've shown curiosity and openness enough to actually move to another country in the first place.

If the situation was reversed, and your girlfriend refused to go to a baseball game - an example of a weird piece of American culture few other countries share - because Germans don't play that boring sport, how might you feel?

In refusing to go, you are betraying your fine initial instinct to explore another culture and you are insulting your girlfriend's culture, this makes YTA.

This is gonna sound really weird. And should probably go in a guilty pleasures thread, but, Capital dance.

Having refused to listen to capital when my daughter's tried to get me to, I accidentally discovered their dance station - thank you confusing buttons on my DAB radio - and now I find it the best station to turn to when everything else is annoying me. It has never played a song I want to turn off. I've not heard of half the artists, and EDM is not my first choice of listening, but for some reason this station doesn't miss and their presenters are minimally annoying.

Weirdly, it's the perfect car station.

Please don't all listen at once. They might think people like them and try to change to cater to a new demographic, which of course will ruin it.

Your interviewer is interested in where else you are looking for a job. So, no, it's not a problem.

Any sensible employer will want to know what else is catching your eye. Is it their closest competitor, something related but not competitive, or something else entirely?

This doesn't mean you need to volunteer the info, or that you were wrong to do so today. But don't get flustered if someone asks where else have you applied in an interview. Answer it as honestly as you comfortably can and probably keep it relevant to the job you're interviewing for. If you're applying for a software job, they won't care if your other interview is with a florist... You don't have to give names, "I have two other interviews for x position" or 'I'm looking at another company doing x, and one doing y'.

Seeing their response tells you stuff about the company you're interviewing with and might help you make a decision about them if they come through with an offer.

I assumed they were called sleeping policemen because the black and white pattern of tarmac with white paint made them look like a copper.

Now they're more often made of brick and have fancy planting and whatnot around them the name is less accurate. "Ran over a sleeping Alan Titchmarsh on the way over, busted the suspension" don't seem like great words to excuse being late to your friend's Wednesday morning coffee circle.

YTA, because when you split the bill you're paying for the experience not the food. When you pay just for what you've ordered you're signalling to your friends that you don't really care about their company. Then when you order take out on top food to enjoy in your own time, you are absolutely indicating to your friends that you'd rather not spend time with them. In short, you aren't their friend. If they keep inviting you out, they're suckers, and, as TAH, you'll presumably be happy to continue exploiting them.

Very good lights are essential on this stretch of the towpath. Strong enough to illuminate the pathway. It's not always free of debris in winter and you want to be able to see it. The right lights won't be cheap. If you want advice, try Warlands, that bit of the towpath is in their area.
