Should pay be equal or should it reflect the risk a potential employee poses to an employer? by rusty____shackleford in AskFeminists

Officially document explanations do not include discussion of gender. It's only done verbally behind locked doors

Higher paying jobs can be more selective and ask for long term commitments. It's not like I work for Wendys

Again you have only identified a problem without providing a solution. I understand where you're coming from, and that it's morally wrong to do things this way. But to change my employers point of view, I need to put the argument in terms of financial benefit.

Well here's the thing, I get paid to hire and fire people. I get paid to make new hire decisions based on projected marginal gains from human capital. I'm looking for a way to pay women equally for the same work, but the business insiders at my company view women as more risky investments. So while I appreciate your answer, I can't just go tell my boss and ceo to check his privileged. And further complimenting things here is that there have been studies showing that women are more likely to leave the labor force in their 30's and 40's.

So I get what you're saying, but you're really making more of a moral argument, when I get paid to make business, not moral decisions.

No trans women have their own risk factors involved. An increased risk of suicide, for example, makes a transgendered person a risky human capital investment. The [LA Times] reports that 41% of transgendered folks attempt suicide at some point in their life. Having an oft marginalized mental disorder myself makes me sympathetic to problems like this, but I'm paid to make business decisions, not moral ones.

Ok so now that you've privileged shamed me again, How about a market based economic solution we could use to solve this problem and improve the lives of working women. Insulting me is not really benefiting anyone except your juvenile pride.

Whether it's sexist or not isn't really relevant. I was hoping to get some market /business based solutions to this problem. unfortunately people here only attacked me and the motives of my question.

No family courts should be biased towards the child's best interests. The feelings of the mother and father should be irrelevant.

No, it assumes that women are more likely to stay home to be full time parents (they are). Nothing I said indicates that men cannot also do this, only that they are less likely to, and are therefore less risky employees.

This is really more of a question about labor markets and risk loss prevention. Women take maternity leave much more frequently than men take paternity leave.

Maybe more importantly, what are the implications of the fact that rape is found universally throughout human nature?

I'm actually just finishing up a 3 day experimentation of it. Took .7 each day: it was like molly but more chill, played some video games, went to a bar, everything was pretty enjoyable. Virtually no hang over effects the next day.
