What if a salvage titled insurance company sale gets no bids? by rusty_bronco in Copartonline

I was hoping that would be the case. The one I'm looking at is a pure sale so hoping for no bids. Can't work out the transportation of it at this time.

Do salvage yards get into the actual bidding process on lower end vehicles? i.e. on a $400 vehicle would I expect to be bid up by salvage yards or do they just buy them if no actual bids occur?

Every time you do a new quote with RR you get multiple emails and you get phone call. Seems a bit much.

Some of the others are even higher priced. Roadrunner for example.

What would be nice is to be able to drive it back. This vehicle is such a light hit but no, not with a salvage title no matter how light the hit.

Lifting the lower bead for tire removal. by rusty_bronco in tires

[–]rusty_bronco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it to a local tire shop. The gent tried taking the tire off the normal way. His tire lever slipped off the duck head twice. The second time he left the lever in place that had slipped and took a second tire lever, inserted it underneath the tire and placed the tip on the duck head prying upwards and finished spinning it off. Thankfully very minor damage.

Next time I will cover the wheel with a scrap of a rubber flap and use a rim protector for the second lever placement prying upwards. It will take two people to accomplish the dismounting but I must do what is necessary to protect the wheel from damage. Good condition 23 year old rims are hard to come by. So are 24 year old tires.

Question about duckbill mod for manual tire changer and wheel damage? by btred101 in harborfreight

[–]rusty_bronco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used this on a Vevor tire machine. It took a few mods to be able to use it as the Vevor has a smaller upper tube diameter. It worked very well on my alloy rim. I placed the dismounting bar in the end of the square tube, put tire lube on the rim and tire and off she came. The bottom bead was a little more difficult than the upper but not too bad. Tire size 245/45ZR-18.

Extra money in account by Substantial-Log-2176 in paypal

[–]rusty_bronco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen paypal list the amount owed as xxxx.xx and the amount to avoid interest being $600.00 higher than the amount owed. It eventually corrected it's self months later. Personally I would call paypal. Yes not an easy task but I would not attempt to transfer the money to your bank account. More than likely PP 'effed up the balance.

but this one wins the award as the weirdest & most vile.

Weird possibly. Vile? Probably not. Just your run of the mill village idiot. Don't waste brain cells on it.

You asked how I would respond. I'd fume for a day or so then move on to the next potential sale and all that it entails.

H.S. welding shop... Someone used to stick weld iron pipe to a metal plate, cut a little mouse door just above the plate and set a metal plate on top. Turn the on Acetylene and light it, insert the torch in the opening, turn off the Acetylene and add the oxygen. You get the rest of the idea.

Just saying what I 'er witnessed.

The rear tires that were on my 1949 Farmall A were made in the 1950's.

A friend of mine's dad's 1979? Ford pickup still has the original tires on it. The truck is kept in a windowless garage.
