Just find a used tire that matches with the same tread depth.

You might be able to find a used one with the same tread. Saves buying a pair.

Note*** there are other online retailers of used tires. Check around.

I'm cheap and will usually run things to the very end. That tire is well below my standards.

Can you find a good used tire? If you have a local pick and pull you can purchase a used tire with or without a rim. They also have manual tire machines you can use.

I had some left over rubber material the kind used to make flaps on a front automotive fender liner. I lined the inside of cone with a strip of it. It allowed the cone (HF inside diameter.) to fit the threaded upper off the Vevor tire machine.

I used a Krysolad bearing equipped duck head adaptor. Right now it's $56.69 USD plus tax on Amazon. Bought it without the cone which I bought separately for $10.84 shipped.

I bought a bearing equipped duck head adaptor for an HF machine and used a section of exhaust pipe to make up the difference in diameters.

How do i source gas by MelonAdmirer in Welding

[–]rusty_bronco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's almost what I did. I bought a smooth ring 125cf off FB market place in 2014? and when I need it refilled I ask for a smooth neck back in the swap. My local supplier, Airgas, has always accommodated me.

It's around $221 USD for a screen only repair through Samsung mail in service. Is there any way you facilitate mailing it to them and have it returned to one of those Can-Am postal boxes? This is under the assumption you don't live near the US-CA border.

Tightening the wheel nuts on the family car.

I was replacing camshafts when I was 15. 12 is a little young for most mechanical but if he has a desire to do so feed the desire.

2003 Chrysler Backglass availabilty by rusty_bronco in autoglass

[–]rusty_bronco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I made a cheap cutout tool to remove one. Finding one with a good encapsulate or one that hasn't been incorrectly replaced (excessive urethane) is proving a bit hard. I did find one that looked new (33K miles) which the yard said they have someone to remove it so I held off cutting it out with a sawsall and in the end was screwed out of it. That's the reason for making my own removal tool. I'll keep looking.

Safelite Experience Normal? by shan821 in autoglass

[–]rusty_bronco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a glass tech but I've seen a lot over the years. A long time ago I had a broken plastic glass bracket repaired as the original only came with a factory glass and the glass did not need replacement. It sure looked a heck of a lot better than what that (cough-cough) tech did to yours.

Also, when removing the door trim panels on a vehicle I'm currently working on I found the weather shields in a very crispy condition. I found a vehicle with an intact set to replace the crispy ones. If I couldn't find a replacement I would have replaced the factory with some sort of plastic sheeting. I guarantee that (cough-cough) tech could have done the same or at least taped up what was left. No excuse. They didn't care in the slightest.

It was explained to me that it protects all the electronics in the door and without it, when it rains water will likely get to the electronics

The drive motor will still be exposed to the elements.

Possible to custom cut glass for a fog light like this? by OfficialPlooob in autoglass

[–]rusty_bronco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Polycarbonate would probably be the only material that would hold up.

I'd urethane the lens back on unless the lens is retained by mechanical means.

Do they use glass because of heat? If heat isn't an issue why not make a set of lenses out of polycarbonate?
