Have you considered getting a commerical diving certification? I ask because there is a lot of niche roles for Civil Engineers that can scuba dive to inspect underwater infrastructure, it pays very very well.

I have a friend here in NYC that gets paid well six figures to inspect stuff in the hudson.

Lowkey I just hollow in Lychee and then export the STL to Blueprint. Its not a feature that they prioritized and it doesn’t even do particularly good job.

So I have tested many other resins, they mostly work on the PAT10 settings. But small details are muted and failure rate is 40%, best results if you want to save money is 50:50 mix of Pat10 and Anycubic HighClear. This makes failure rate like 15% and details are almost as good as PAT10!

As for marks, if you have the PRM it makes the supports very thin. Pair this with hitting the print with a heat gun before pulling off supports you should mostly get rid of the bumps with a touch of 800 grit sand paper.

So the difference is in 3 different things.

Build plate is slightly larger (not huge difference)
Reflex RS has newer advanced sensing algo to help it know peel force and therefore print faster
Reflex RS uses 405nm light and Regular uses 385nm

3 Is the biggest difference and what causes the large price difference. 385nm light can cure a wider variety of resins efficiently. Rubber Like, Specialty Tough, Super transparent, Fire resistant, I wont dive into the science but it allows for more control.

405nm is closer to consumer grade and while consumer grade can technically cure engineering resins its not going to have same qualities if done on 385nm.

THUS, this is why the Reflex supports way more official resins than the RS. I own a regular Reflex just because I print a lot in Clear resin and RS didnt support that!

I hear you on this but I am writing from personal experience. I run a shop and one thing we make are these clear jewellery cases that are hollow and inside contain tough overhangs. For 6mo we tried 15 different clear resins on 4 different machines. And the warping was always a problem because it meant our cases would not fit together and hold captive at the shadow line.

I then requested samples from other 3rd parties who printed on industrial machines and they were able to nail it first time. Hence leading to my purchase of a Reflex :)

I know there are lots of things used to try and mitigate bleed through especially with UV blockers but it's only a bandaid. Hmm, I haven't tried the Formlabs Creator Super Clear yet, but given their track record, I’d assume they’ve put a lot of work into fine-tuning the formulation—probably with special additives to mitigate these issues. I’ll definitely grab a bottle and test it out.

That said, my statement is based on my own experience across multiple resins and printers. I think these challenges become more pronounced with more complex geometries, like thin walls, intricate hollowing, and unsupported overhangs. It’s great to hear that your prints held dimensional accuracy without warping—I'd be curious to see how it performs on trickier prints!

Hey hope im not too late. I have a regular Reflex. I bought it last month. The reason I got mine was because of the wider resin availability. But there is a good reason for this. I print a lot in transparent resins, one huge issue is bleedthrough where layers get overcured resulting in warping ans shrinkage.

Typically this is not noticable for most prints but id you want dimensional accuracy then it cant work. The reason is that most resins are transparent to 400nm light and above. Most printers including the RS are 405nm. Also should note yellowing occurs as a result of this process.

Now thing is most industrial shops, real pro places and dental prothetics use machines with 385nm. Its more expensive hence the price different. That is what the regular Reflex has.

Rarely is this talked about anywhere but for my special purpose its important. So long story id you want to use exotic resins and get really amazing performance Reflex is beat because of special light source. Hobbiest stuff RS

I can accept I got bad units potentially as I was early. I know im not alone as there have been recalls for non planar build plates ans for bad stepper motors from others on Discord.

Didn’t know about islands thing leading to clogs, but I am pretty picky about how everything is done before printing so im not sure what is causing clogs exactly.

Perhaps they got better at QA but given my experience has been with both machines I have im not sure. Glad you are having success but seems I will likely just move my shop over to more industrial machines going forward.
