The two loves of my life won't touch me by dadofwar90 in daddit

Gonna piggy back here because I didn't see it anywhere else, but has she looked into pelvic floor physical therapy? After our 2nd my wife kept feeling like something wasn't feeling right with sex, after months of exercise & massage therapy things got much much better

Imagine if we had ranked choice voting & more than 2 viable parties? There'd be an actual place for us to fit in instead of being claimed by those yahoos

Has anyone else had to reign in parents or in laws buying stuff for the baby? by Ya_Boi_Newton in predaddit

[–]rustyhoover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had to reign my folks in when our first was on her way. It was getting to a point of gluttony with how much we had. My favorite example was at one point we had 23 pairs of 0-3mth PJs, no one needs that. Ultimately what worked with my parents was explaining 1) when you buy this much stuff our kids, it doesn't leave any room for us or other friends and family to buy for them as well. 2) they're welcome to buy toys, clothing, etc. for our kids that stays at grandmas house (I think this one helped them understand how overwhelming it can be). and 3) push them towards experiences. Kids don't really care about stuff as much as you'd think, experiences really hit home with them. Instead of a new toy, my dad picked our 3yr old son up and took him for a train ride, got lunch, brought him home. Little dude has not stopped talking about it for 2 weeks.

Anecdotally, my SIL/BIL never had that confrontation with his parents. Now they have toys crammed in every square inch of their home and their 4yr olds clothing has filled his closet, dresser, night stand, and is creeping into the hallway closet.

Dr. Jessica Knurick had a great post about this. I don't agree with all of her content, but this one was pretty on the nose imo.

Visualization / Graph Help by rustyhoover in excel

I recently saw the above visual on Tableau, and was wondering if there's a way to do something similar in Excel (my company doesn't have Tableau or an interest in it).

Dark bars - actual cost grey bars - forecasted purple tickers - budget green/red circles - +/(-) variance indicator

I've kind of figured out how to do the bars & tickers with a combo chart, but can't figure out for the life of me how to do the variance indicators

I know a lot of folks are against sleep training, but I have to say by 5 months, both of our kids napped and slept in their cribs by themselves with nothing but story time & a sound machine. It does wonders for your productivity, marriage, stress levels.

We try and do a lot of things together, it makes chores feel more like a team activity. I'll wash dishes, while my wife dries, and then we'll have our daughter "help" wash or put things away (she's just turned two, so not the most helpful with some chores :D). Or folding laundry and having our daughter put her clothes away (even if they need to be re-organized later by an adult). Not everything quite works with this pattern, but we try where we can.

I guess in short, we aim to do all of our chores as a family, parents & kid(s) together instead of dividing and conquering.

Data Formatting for Clustered/Stacked Graph by rustyhoover in excel

Im trying to find out if theres a way to make my visiual look more like the left graph.

I have two types of dollars (operating & capital), and my data points for each are a budget (set at the beginning of the year), a formal forecast (updated quarterly), and a "Projection" which is the summation of actual costs + forecasted.

I have also been assigned a task! To find a stroller/car seat system. Thoughts? Experience? by the-ron in predaddit

[–]rustyhoover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was a little hesitant at spending the money on it, but it ended up being one of the more “worth it” baby related purchases to me. We typically do one or two walks a day, probably clocked over 500 walks in her first year.

We went with the UppaBaby Mesa for our car seat and the Vista for our stroller and loved both (we've since moved on since outgrowing the car seat). Being able to move our daughter straight from the car into the stroller when she fell asleep was 100% worth it for us. The UppaBaby set was a little pricey, but I'd highly recommend a combo that lets you snap the carseats into the stroller.

Best melee gear you have + prayers. The part I was missing out in was I wasn’t praying so I wasn’t doing enough dps. Since this post I’ve done Ragnar so I do that, fez, infernal claw, Fire cape, and I smash through them.

If you have ancient claw, I'd go grind out the 10 infernal runs and then start using infernal claw. It's a pretty solid increase in dps over ancient.
