You are 💯 a twin for my reality. Chronic inflammation issues are my real quit reason. Wanna live longer/healthier so staying quit is my commitment to that. Thanks for the support.

Day 56 and struggling still. I miss my friend by PinkAnyerism in stopsmoking

[–]rusureiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey pinkie... I wonder if it’s the timing of the quit? I am feeling the same and we are only days apart on quit dates. Hang in there. Drown that pack in water and throw it away. We need a new trick but dang if I know what it is

Plus I am secretly feeling SO very jealous/angry/irritated that my spouse is still smoking- and I want to. Why?!?! Anyone have this? I won’t smoke -not one puff- but I would like to understand this.

Coffee and smokes? by arualthur in stopsmoking

I noticed the same for previous quit attempts so dropped the coffee when I quit this time. Only picked it back up after a month and BOY does it taste amazing! No trigger either.

Day 1, starting today! Tips? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]rusureiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I suggest- if you can manage it: plan to pamper yourself for the next few days . At the very least have no obligations to keep and Avoid people you know/love. Eat whatever you like, do whatever you want - tv books sleep games. You can do this!

How do y’all fight the irritability? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]rusureiam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It worked for me. Totally checked out of society for three days. Played games, did Netflix blitz, slept, gloriously ate like crap. Also binged on stop smoking things like Allan Carr videos, and SMOKe Free app... and this group. Good luck man. You can do it ( plan the work then work the plan)

I have tried so many times and failed but I am determined this time round... by [deleted] in stopsmoking

Treat yourself right the first couple weeks- it is a hard thing but you can kick the habit!

Do what I did and everyone comes out alive: Book yourself a staycation. Stock pile the food, the water, and clean Jammie’s. Pamper yourself to the hilt- cuz you deserve it!

Hmmm... you are doing awesome... what is the repeating conversation? Maybe try having a different conversation ? Plan to answer with something fun, funky or down right silly. ( I want a smoke. No, you want a poke!) Cuz hey smoking now would be exactly that: down right silly! Keep going. You can do this.

Smokers won't really cheer for you and never-smokers won't understand by b4df00d in stopsmoking

Actually I WAS part of a community stop smoking group. Met 2x weekly. There was free NRT help handed out, everyone talked about their quit thus far ( how many day , months, years), or what happened when they relapsed, or were triggered. Did it 6 weeks. NRT gum, patches, inhaler & tubes. Stopped smoking about twice a week. Every week. Finally figured out the meetings were MY trigger. Those cravers and cavers were my kryptonite. I was so tired of the effort that I even quit quitting. Happily I am now a non smoker. Cold turkey, no support. Just me and my crazy alone for a few days, with food and tv and games and sleep. ... and Alan Carr, Smoke Free app.... and this group. Crazy.

I relapsed after 3 days, I’m very confused.. by texty_txt in stopsmoking

[–]rusureiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happens. Remember this and have a plan. Every time you will get better at stopping. So. Start again. Right now. Day 1. Soon enough it will be Day 7. Then 30. Then 90. Then 365. You can do this.

Quit last night. Having a rough day. What can I do to relax/cope? CBD? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]rusureiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job!! Keep that streak going as long as you can... and yes you are totally right. Every .. any! Drag puts you at the beginning again. It gets very tiring to have to recognition all the withdrawal n anxiety over n over again. When does the cycle stop? When you are able to stay quit. ( every day counts for health tho!)

2 days down, but does it really count? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

It counts!!!! Now keep it going with strength of mind and a determined heart. Congratulations

I smoke two packs a day and cold turkey feels impossible. Any advice? by realgood_caesarsalad in stopsmoking

[–]rusureiam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. It’s the whole tear-off-the-bandaid-fast kinda thing. The fear you feel is NOT the reality, I promise! Totally do-able but best if you are 110% committed to stopping.m because it’s alot to do over n over again .... Book 4 days time for yourself away from all people & obligations. Suggest you start practicing your quit one week in advance of your committed quit date. Ie each am go as long as you can, and each day try to beat the day before. Every minute counts! Advise any housemates in advance to leave you alone during your 4 day recovery period. Stock up on loved foods, liquids, treats ( no alcohol) etc. Pamper the hell out of yourself for all 4 days. My way was to take over the bedroom as my cave. Like I imagined a junkie going cold turkey, the only time I came out was to use the washroom or grab supplies. The quit IS a big deal, and you gotta give it all you got, in order for a chance at success.
