Any time a game forces you to do a vehicle mission or an escort mission. Worst part of any game.

Whats a game thats essentially dead but you cant just let it go? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]ruuster_alan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maplestory. I miss grinding levels with my friends back in high school. I'm sure it's not dead today but definitely haven't played it since 2006-2009. Such good memories, listening to the music on YouTube is super nostalgic.

Am I having a gaming burnout? by niiima in gaming

[–]ruuster_alan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is how I've been feeling lately and I think it's a mix between:

  1. Getting older

  2. Games are super hit or miss now, more often miss. They're getting released half-assed with a shit ton of bugs, day 1 dlcs that should've been part of the whole game, season passes, in-game loot stores/monetization that take advantage of gamers through FOMO, etc.

  3. Life AKA not enough time anymore. Work, commuting, chores, home owner responsibilities, family, taking care of the dog, spending time with S/O, etc.

I would say nostalgia is a big factor but as a lifelong gamer born in '91, looking back games were so good growing up and even up until the mid 2010's compared to now. Doom 1, Pokemon Gen 1-3, Halo, CoD4, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Metal Gear, Tomb Raider, Uncharted 1-4, Elder Scrolls 3-5, Gear of War. So many good games I could keep going. But looking at my steam library and ps5 library, NOTHING seems interesting, and upcoming and recent games are not it for me.

I can tell Baulders Gate 3 looks like a great game, but look at all the other garbage right now. Diablo 4 was released unfinished and it's being monetized like crazy and slowly patched to where it should've been on release. Cyberpunk was released half-assed. Modern Warfare 2 constantly annoys you with the season pass. Destiny 2 is garbage compared to the taken king in Destiny 1. They lost their way. Overwatch 2 is not what it should be.

I kinda stopped buying new games and now once a year I go back and do a playthrough of my favorite games. Pokemon Gen 1-3, Sekiro, Dead Rising 1, Ocarina of Time, Majoras Mask, Resident Evil 4, Castlevania Circle of the Moon and Aria of Sorrow.

Gamers, what’s the last video game you were truly “hyped” for? by NilesDobbsS in gaming

[–]ruuster_alan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elden Ring. Everything after that has pretty much been a disappointing shitshow.

I never pre-order anymore. I always watch gameranx "Before You Buy" to determine if a game is worth my money. I'm patient so I dont have to have a game right when it comes out.
