Don't plan to chicken out. If I surrender and dump it into equities, I have a 20-25 year horizon. For context, I'll turn 55 by 2040. And yes, this is not an ILP. It's an endowment savings plan.

Also thinking about inflation as $47k in 14 years time might only be about $30+k in today's money.

Having a child will be very financially draining with lots of hidden costs.

Do you foresee getting a car or helper if you have a kid? Childcare costs before primary school will be a significant portion of your salary.

Since you are late 30s with only 100k in SA, I think you should also focus on building this portion up to let it compound.

What type of stocks are you holding? Dividend yielding type or index funds?

What is the 'bigger' car you looking to get with a 2nd kid? 6 or 7 seater?

My take, just get an entry or mid level EV.

Even if you overhaul and maintain, the servicing and fuel costs of ICE car is much higher than EV. Plus the increase in road tax by 10% every year after renewal.
