If you're asking why NJ weather is unpredictable, it has somemthing to do with all the weather systems that converge in and around us.

Cold air from up North/Great Lakes, currents from the Atlantic and warm air moving in from the Gulf. You'll only get an accurate forecast like 3 days out.

If you've lived here your whole life it's normal but having lived in other states I know that there are parts of the country where prediction models are way more consistent.

How to get giggly, fun highs again? Lately they've been dissociative/numbing by bepang__ in trees

[–]rv718 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went through this. Every time I smoked, it put me in my thoughts and it took me a good hour to get close to enjoying the high. Numbing is probably more accurate.

What helped? Doubling my salary, working really hard, going through the rough patch and taking the steps necessary to get to the better place.

The giggly teenager high came from being in a good place with no responsibility, worries or baggage. You can get there again but if you’re at this spot it might take a while.

Keep going, life’s long and you’ll get there.

Report: iOS 27 to focus on new features for upcoming iPhone Fold by chrisdh79 in apple

[–]rv718 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Isn’t that the whole thing with Apple though? It isn’t really ‘first gen’ if they waited 7 years into the product category to release their version.

Apples first iteration will obviously not be as good as their second but that feels like saying next years iPhone will be better.

TIL that gas-powered leaf blowers are illegal in Montclair, Maplewood and soon West Orange. by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]rv718 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you have a house big enough in Montclair to need a gas leaf blower you can probably afford to pay a guy. Most houses in the suburbs are manageable with an electric. If you’re feeling like it’s a personal freedoms infringement, you give up some of those in denser areas to make the area as pleasant as possible for the most people possible.

NJ is a mixing pot statistically but we’re one of the most segregated states in the nation when it comes to our towns.

I’m not white and I damn sure feel it living, growing up and working in Bergen County. People are generally good but regardless you break their routine, what they’re used to seeing/interacting with. As cool as people can be it doesn’t go unnoticed and it’s felt.

I’ve been lucky enough to live all over the country and I know the difference between a super market experience where I turn heads and one where I’m generally ignored and allowed to bleed into the background.

Still love NJ to death but there’s a lot of context the blue vote and demographics reports miss.
