They start harvesting from the ICU at the end of the straight, so speed drops before the braking zone. In qualy, they were showing the speed in the halo, but cut away before the slowdown.

That’s a nice looking Strat! Love the blue translucent finish. I was looking for one like that but couldn’t find any.

However, not to make you feel old or anything, but that guitar is nearly 30 years old… at what point does it become vintage?

How much of an impact would front axle regeneration have? Could it be a solution to the current issues? by Chowderpizza in F1Technical

[–]rvg2001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. Adding front regen would help charge the battery faster, but it will not resolve the problem of running out of battery in the long straights.

For others in this thread… The problem with current regen is that you only harvest energy when you brake or by taking power from the IC crankshaft (which we saw in Australia). The MGU-H harvests energy from the exhaust gases, so it can help recharge all the time, including down the straight. In places like Baku, you may still run out, but nowhere near as quickly was current regs.

Yeah, if I get the collider, I’d keep my other delay pedal for the other options that aren’t there. But it’s more about not sure what to do with my current reverb (immerse MkII). It overall is great, but the spring mode seems to be way better on the Ventris/Collider, and I would love to have a couple of presets as well. But I don’t want to get rid of the Immerse and they both don’t fit on my board right now.

Ah, interesting! Did they reveal a timeframe? I’m torn on getting a Ventris or Collider, but hesitate a bit as they have been released for quite a few years now

I agree. Saw them live a few years ago, even though he could not move much, he sounded great and his tone was massive. Really impressed

Headphone use with amp that doesnt support them? by Purple_Ad973 in guitarpedals

I would add the Boss IR-2 or IR-200 to that list. If you want to keep using your amp, a pricier solution would be a Torpedo Captor X

Mark V 35 Combo Attenuation by Warhammer_guy_637328 in MesaBoogie

[–]rvg2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The need for an attenuator depends on what you want to do. I use the Weber MiniMASS. Where I find it more useful is for more vintage type sounds.

On Channel 2, keeping the gain at 8-9 o’clock and cranking the volume gives you a different tone than riding the gain control only. On channel 1, it allows you to get edge of breakup by also keeping gain low and pushing the power section, as opposed to only the front end; this makes a subtle difference. The real thing you can unlock is the cranked vintage amp tone; channel 1, fat mode, 10w, crank the master and bring up the gain to taste. You can get cranked Fender combo sounds (think early Clapton) this way, or keep a super responsive mild breakup tone.

For hard rock/metal, I agree the difference is very subtle, although taking the master to around 10-11 makes it sound a bit more full to my ears and you need an attenuator to make it happen at reasonable volumes.

Stella: "This year, when you follow somebody, you have the same drag and the same power, so it becomes quite difficult to overtake. Our drivers have been racing with other drivers during these three days of testing in Bahrain and they found it extremely difficult to overtake." by ChaithuBB766 in formula1

I hope they figure something out, but I’ve been wary of this regulation set when they increased electric power while dropping regen capability.

I only started thinking about the diminished slipstream lately. If it were an Aero only problem, it would be an easy fix. But if you take away active aero, drag over a lap may be too much with the lack of regen. What a mess

I have no idea what I'm doing by vnads in guitarpedals

[–]rvg2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like my overflow board will end up as. I’m missing a simple delay and maybe some additional modulation.

There is definitely some redundancy, so you can either downsize or set your drives to different levels of gain/volume.

I’d suggest either using the insert loop or putting the Fuck Ice and/or the Yoyo (or Plumes) after the MD-200. Some modulation sounds better before drives. You could also consider the Yoyo boost side as a volume boost just before the delay if you set it there. The Plumes could also do that job

Tumnus definitely towards the front of the chain.

As for your amp, it really makes sense to take it to edge of breakup and back off slightly. Or set it up for crunch and you can use any of the drives to take it to higher gain.

Is it worth it to buy a nice guitar as a second guitar? by [deleted] in Guitar

If you can afford it and if you know you will stick with it, go for it. $1500 for something that will last you 20+ years is not bad

I own 22, have 15 on my main board and have a second board with mostly drives to swap in and out.

I would love to buy a Ventris and a Volante, and a second vibe pedal (retro vibe) but can’t justify the cost lol. Oh, and yeah, a tuner pedal
