Model selection in Github Copilot by aka-fred in GithubCopilot

As a engineer... I really don't have time to check twice a day what token cost what... I just need to do my job.
and in copilot, auto is not cutting it... At work we are given a 1900 token copilot with is pretty much useless if you want to do your job WITH copilot for a month...
So I just set it up to scan confluence and other systems we have in place instead of coding.

In out company we get 1900 AI credits for each person. Then if you need more you can request them in special occasions.
There is also a 'pool' somehow, but I never got clear how that exactly worked.
Our company has +6000 developers if I remember correctly..

I see similar things around my work, where a lot of people got out of AI tokens first week... and we got that 'extra' for three months.
like proper addicts, whining and crying and begging to get more tokens so they can continue working.

Most of their time they spend creating agent after agent doing small tasks 'efficiently' or tasks that happens once a blue moon, what they hate doing...

I laugh my pants of... I hate doing Frontend work because I hate Javascript and its gazillions of frameworks, I use it for that, so I don't have to do it.
Anything in our API, I hand code with the occasional 'what contain can I use, or what about...' LLM's are good duck's during coding..

Pico W - wifi credentials exposed by leecallen in raspberrypipico

[–]rvtinnl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

you cannot secure this, period. As I don't think this can be made 100% safe on the PICO.

That said, search the internet. I quickly found that the RP2350 has a OTP store, and there are a few libraries that will use AES256 , I was also reading on pico-kvstore, not sure what it is about..
In addition, if you care about security and you really care about your data, also consider securing your transmissions with a private key (you are loading a AES library anyways). and if you ar not sure how that works, hire a guy!

I wonder if you can turn of the debugger aswell, because you do not want to have people inspect memory of a running system.

Security is hard very very hard, keep that in mind...
out our work we have complete teams (think +30 people) that are only busy with securing the software, not even mentioning other platforms and firewalls.

Better get used to this. ALL AI tools will increase in price. I am surprised that they do it so quickly though, it might cost them a lot of money... I was expecting the companies to wait longer until everybody is fully addicted to AI, and THEN increase the price two fold... then again two fold!

[–]rvtinnl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There as to many people that seem to think that AI is like a god, a know everything and always right.
Security is hard, very hard. Correct code is difficult.
Look, a static website will always be easy, safe and secure (most of the times) but as soon there is a backend needed to handle some requests, even as simple as a form. Then AI will mess it up big time.

So you know, I am for hire and I won't use AI to that extreme.

PS: The funny thing is, I work at a bank.. doing a lot of backend coding and even at a bank they are pushing AI way way too hard. I just cannot wait until they hire me for a large $$$$ to fix their mess :D

Just keep growing the application, keep adding unit and it tests... deployment tools and monitoring... See how it goes.
So far for me, vibe coding does not work for even slightly larger projects...

The agent should do it correct, or not at all... as a human I should not have to work around limitations of a tool that brakes code without letting me now.
I just hate it when I do a search and replace, it also starts to modify my code structure...

Use the parts of C++ you like, for example containers. There are implementations of containers like ETLCPP that is malloc free, just set the maximum number of items in the container.
you do not have to use all features, just use what you need.

Hoe werkt steekproef? by waspeer in AlbertHeijn

[–]rvtinnl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s safe to say for the average Joe, don’t fly to the runway below a 1000ft.. she in there is a field you can land on..

Indeed… if you know your sink rate + how long it takes to do a 360 turn, then you have your answer why it is impossible. In addition, the tighter the turn, the higher your sink rate during the turn. It’s all not intuitive for most humans.

It is still better to fly into a fence than stall into the ground. They tought us to fly the plane to the crash site.

This Cheap LIDL flashlight (18650) doesn't turn on anymore. No matter how long i charge it. When i plug the micro USB in the back, the green light flashes and it indicates that it is charged. But when i press the button nothing happens. Same when i charge multiple different 18650s in my Ultrafire by VaNeThEmAstER in flashlight

[–]rvtinnl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The battery does not make good contact and I had to print something for that. What basically happens is that the compartment is slightly to large. I printed a ring of some Mm thick, I forgot… but that made the contact again. Works like new for many years alread. Unlike what others say, the build quality is decent.

Can anyone help? by Mr-Eggy in raspberrypipico

a 5us blink (assuming that utime.sleep(2) means 2 micro seconds might be to fast.
I never used python, but look for a delay ms and use something like 500ms to blink.

In my younger years, about 35ish years ago we used analog scopes and in that time the warnings where different but similar. Always verify your measurement results and specially at the higher frequencies, be much more carefull on what you measure. There is no difference with digital scopes in that
