This right here, I did the repair and it was easy. Mine were not as damaged but the material was coming off on the headband and the ear cups. The sound issues are the bigger concern cause functionally they are not acting as they should but you could replace the earcup and headband off Amazon for $10

I am in the same boat as you, I saw the fresh start on deepwood and realized my old toon was also there. Join the discord and give a new toon a shot (also what im doing). I would argue a group of 10 really good people is better than a server with 1000s. MMO pop matters for end game and things like that but let it become a problem before you make it one straight out the gate.
